My Jewish friend overwhelmingly support BO. I cannot get thru to them. It's like a "cone of silence" descends upon them when I tell them anything negative about "The One"...........They refuse to listen to anything..........

I don’t get it.
There are times when emotions overwhelm reason. People who live in safety & comfort assume it will continue & no effort is needed to maintain it. Zion is only a concern for those who look at it as a safety net if the rest of the world goes mad *again*.
Emotion tells them that it could never happen here... It could never happen here... It could never happen again & support for little Israel is unpopular with the “world community”, so it’s best to just cut loose all ties & support for her.
As a Finnish American, I believe that a majority of Finnish Americans are fairly left wing, and are likely worshipping at the feet of the Obamessiah. It has certainly been true of my extended family.

This column has confirmed my suspicion that support of Israel among American Jews is overrated. In the end, Jews who actually live in Israel are the ones who are concerned about Israel. Otherwise, McCain would have easily locked in the Jewish vote this election year.
In a nuclear age, one country does not have to send troops to occupy another country in order to conquer it. A country is conquered if another country can dictate who rules it, as the Mongols once did with Russia, and as Osama bin Laden tried to do when he threatened retaliation against places in the United States that voted for George W. Bush. But he didn't have nuclear weapons to back up that threat— yet.American Jews should be scared to death of an Obama presidency. The man doesn't have the moral compass to NOT do this if it came down to it. And there's no way in hell he'll prevent the possibility of such a situation.
America has never been a conquered country, so it may be very hard for most Americans even to conceive what that can mean. After France was conquered in 1940, it was reduced to turning over some of its own innocent citizens to the Nazis to kill, just because those citizens were Jewish.
Do you think our leaders wouldn't do that? Not even if the alternative was to see New York and Los Angeles go up in mushroom clouds? If I were Jewish, I wouldn't bet my life on that.

Well, I was thinking how to respond to this. One way is to say that you can have an IQ over 150 and still be a political idiot.
But I don’t think that entirely explains it. I think it goes back to the old question, “Who is a Jew?” Is Jewish identity a matter of racial inheritance, or is it a religion? Or both?
Almost universally the Jews who are stampeding after Obama are like the Catholics who plan to vote for Obama. They are not really Jews, in the sense that they do not keep the Covenant. And they are not really Catholics, because they are disobeying central teachings of the Church about right and wrong.
We see what that leads to in the Old Testament. It leads to blindness, destruction, and exile. St. Thomas says the same thing about Catholics. If you violate your religion and if you choose to turn away from God, then you will render yourself blind. You can be the smartest guy around, but you have rendered yourself blind to the most essential thing in life.

I think the problem is that Jews have encapsulated themselves in a cultural cacoon. They live and breathe liberal ideas and go out to dinner with liberals and read liberal newspapers and blogs. They must have a large appetite for leftist propaganda. Prager always says that Manhattan liberals live in a sealed liberal environment. Many of those liberals are Jews.
Something about immanentizing the eschaton or some such.

For whatever reason, American Jews believe it’s more important to be “progressive” than to worry about their fellow Jews.
As a group, American Jews are booksmart. They lack common sense about voting because, among other things, they are blinded by their paranois about the religious right (which supports them more strongly than almost anyone else.)
I know because I am one of them. Of course, I did manage to come to my senses.
