With two days to go before the election, Barack Obama spoke with messianic zeal before an estimated 80,000 people in Cleveland this afternoon who were drawn by a free acoustic concert by Bruce Springsteen.
AFP reports Obama riffed on Springsteen's closing song, The Rising, when he took the stage:
"A rising is coming," Obama said after Springsteen exclaimed to deafening cheers: "I want my country back, I want my dream back, I want my America back!"
The Rising was written about the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 and was the title song of Springsteen's cathartic album released the year after the attacks. Obama and Springsteen's use of the song at Obama's political rallies perverts the song to equate the Bush presidency with the 9/11 attacks.
Obama, equating his presidency as "a rising" is treading on blasphemous territory, territory he knows well from Rev. Wright and Father Pfleger.
Obama's cry he wants his America back is laughable, unless he's talking about the America that his wife suddenly became proud of earlier this year when Obama's victory was more assured.
Ahhh yes, Sudden Sam Rutigliano. I had forgotten about him. He was head coach through part of the time I had season tickets. Including the famous playoff game with the Oakland Raiders (AKA the 'Froze Bowl').
I can't remember if it was Sam or a later coach but I do remember that Doug Deacon was the radio analyst with his famous (around Cleveland anyway) statement, "Prevent Defense - prevents the Browns from winning". And Doug was right!
I think BHO has to work the blue areas. He can't drum up support outside of the big cities of Cleveland, Youngstown, Columbus, and Cincinnati. There's a few counties in Ohio in which, if he campaigned, he might disappear.
The big question is whether his strong support in the welfare areas, real or manufactured (ACORN), is enough to overcome the overwhelming will of those in 'flyover' country. I know that Medina, Lake, Portage, and Geauga will go for McCain. Cuyahoga and probably Lorain will be Obama's. Ashtabula is questionable, though I think that it might go for McCain as well.
I wish I knew the counties around me here that well. I guess that in my 40+ years in Ohio, I learned something. :-)
Is this the same country his wife said ""For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country."
Two more miserable days till this election is over. God have mercy on us.

We are going to change America, We are going to change the World.
Bush Policy was to force marxist Dictatorships to become Democracies. Millions of people have freedom to start businesses, raise their families and worship as they see fit because of President Bush. What Obama calls Eight years of failed policies.
Obama wants to force Democracies to become marxist dictatorships under his control. I am really thinking he is the anti-christ.
Fortunately we have a weapon that can be used to stop this man. The power of people all over America on Tuesday fasting and praying together will help soften the hearts of voters all over the country and they will vote for McCain. We can’t underestimate the power of prayer.
Never again will I allow the left to ridicule and demonize a President or elected official because they are conservative.
Never again will I assume by voting I have done enough. Regardless who wins we must stay informed and active by writing letters, staying informed on every issue and informing others.
Never again will I let party affiliation define whether a person is good for the country or bad. I have watched too many Rinos jump ship. Ridicule is good for them. They will learn the hard way that the left shows no loyality nor do they put Country first.
Never again!
The man is deeply disturbed and belongs on a shrink's couch!
Me too - The Boss is as politically savvy as a kumquat!
Bruce Springsteen is actually a good Catholic boy.....
