Barack Obama wants to institute a Civilian National Security Force, a vast militia not unlike Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, a personal army. He knows he would need such a force to protect him and to enforce his will on Americans.
Americans will have not seen such arbitrary power used against them since the days of the Civil War when Lincoln put the Constitution in the bottom drawer of his desk and set about arresting anyone who opposed his policies to enforce the Union on southern States seeking secession. The moral issue was slavery. The Constitutional issue was states rights.
If you want to see another civil war, just wait for this new security force to come into being. Obama would need it because the concept of posse comitatus forbids the use of the U.S. military to enforce laws within the nation. An army of domestic followers of “the One” would fill that need, assuming that all other law enforcement agencies failed to resist such a horrendous plan.

My own prediction, though, is that if we truly accelerate our move towards socialism at home and pacifism abroad, we'll suffer one or more catastrophic attacks that will render much of the rest of this discussion moot.
I certainly hope I'm wrong about any bad things happening to America. But I can only describe what i see.

Those white kids represent a miniscule minority of the entire population. It is unrealistic to use them as an example of how people would run rampant in neighborhoods destroying other peoples homes.
As to the south, I’m not sure you actually disagreed with me. While most whites may have been sitting at home blaming outside agitators, they did not take law into their own hands and attack blacks. While it was a sad and painful period, we survived it fine and from my experiences living in the south, racism is no worse down here than it is up north where I came from.
I think your fears of marauding bands burning our homes is completely unfounded. Our culture has never done this even during worst of times, and I don’t expect it to happen anytime soon.

Absolutely. Leftist totalitarians and authoritarians need to construct their own security force because the military traditionally fights on behalf of the country. The leftist fights for his party and ideology. That’s why they need their own Brownshirts. Remember that the people who fought Hitler the hardest inside the Reich were the military. Stalin killed all the officers. It would not surprise me to see Obama succeeded by a Pinochet.

You know of all the things they can do the “ban guns” one is just a non-starter with me, and I suspect millions of other Americans.
It is a clear line in the sand. If they cross it, god forgive them, because I won’t. My defensive posture will not be limited to siting at home and wiating for the knock on the door either.
I suspect a few million others feel this way too.
Or, they could do what they are doing with TV. Change the broadcast technology so that all existing radios are obsolete. It's amazing that they have done that with TV's, but they have. Come Jan 1, 2009 no TV will be able to receive "over the air" broadcasts without a special box.

I don't think even BarryO is going to bet on those losers. Weren't they supposed to keep the peace in Georgia? Hmm, didn't seem to stand up to the Russian's very well. Weren't they supposed to prevent Hezboallah from taking over Lebanon?
