Imagine if John McCain had whispered somewhere that he was willing to bankrupt a major industry? Would this declaration not immediately be front page news? Well, Barack Obama actually flat out told the San Francisco Chronicle (SF Gate) that he was willing to see the coal industry go bankrupt in a January 17, 2008 interview. The result? Nothing. This audio interview has been hidden from the public...until now.........
.........Here is the transcript of Obama's statement about bankrupting the coal industry (emphasis mine):
Let me sort of describe my overall policy.
What I've said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else's out there.
I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.
So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.
That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.
The only thing I've said with respect to coal, I haven't been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a (sic) ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.
So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them.
Amazing that this statement by Obama about bankrupting the coal industry has been kept under wraps until this time.
Sarah is already using it to hammer Bozo. She used it today in at least one rally, video is on CNN, and she probably used it at another one later in the day. It is getting legs, it only came out this morning. FReepers sent it to every news outlet they could think of early this morning, if Fox isn’t playing it, then it is because they are in the tank for Bozo also.
Dumba**!
The friggin quote came from a January 2008 interview with the SF Siko Chronicle. The McCain camp just came across this one? Similar to the Obama aunt story...where the F was this information a couple weeks/months ago.
No, it's just getting hit very hard by viewers. It hasn't been removed. That often comes up when traffic is heavy.
bump...
Have you emailed Drudge?
How about FOX?
If we don’t do it, they won’t do it for us.
In Batavia, OH? Yep, she did. Watched it streaming on the CNN site.
(Convenient link, that's why.)
ObaMugbe
He wants the USA to look like Zimbabwe or Kenya under his cousin Odinga.
Sharia Law for everyone !!!
Can you take the quotation marks out of your email addresses? That way we can just copy and paste them into our email and hit send.
If the major industrialists of this country were to just walk away - if the "evil" coal producers were to go on strike - I wonder how many people would have to die of freezing and starvation before these jackasses realize how wrong they all are?
On Hannity now!
He wants to refashion the USA in the image of his real homeland.

Coal is a State of Mind:
If Coal is now an ideology (per Obama, and WTF, he went to Harvard Law), then count me in. I want to be on the ground floor of Coalism. Coal has much to recommend it: it is simple (just carbon); it is plentiful; it becomes a diamond under pressure. Coal is efficient. Coal can be clean (just like Barack the Magic Negro, or so says Joe Biden). Coal embodies the attitude of getting the job done. Real men use coal. Coal is the heart and soul of the middle of this country. Coal powered the railroads. Coal doesnt lie. I would sooner believe in Coal than I would in a charismatic, manipulative cold fish of a man who thinks most of America is too stupid to see through him. Barack Obama is a liar. Give me Coal any day.

According to The Book of Revelations:
The Anti-Christ will be a man, in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will deceive the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal....the prophecy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power,
he will destroy everything.
Like McCain pointed out, Obama is slick. He says he supports building clean coal plants. He’ll let people build them alright. Then he’ll regulate and tax them out of business. In effect, he does not support coal plants. Biden revealed the truth when he said, “No coal plants!” earlier in the campaign.
So much for 95% getting a tax break.. Whatever is put on paper as a “break” will pale in comparison to ones electric bill should this go forward..
Trickle up economics at its best..
Right. That’s a very good point, and needs to be pounded hard. In addition, Obama’s policies will simply force more industry to China and the 3rd world, worsening the very environmental problems he claims to be trying to solve. Not to mention damaging the U.S. economy further.
I believe Obama is trying to be clever, misleading people to think that if he penalizes CO2 emissions, that will encourage “clean coal” technology, and somehow reduce
CO2 emissions. He’s wrong on both counts. No chance in Hades will coal power plants in China be as clean or as efficient as those here, now.
