The poll, by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research, shows Sen. Barack Obama leading Sen. John McCain 47 percent to 45 percent, well within the poll's 4-point margin of error. With the race essentially tied going into the last lap, Florida's 27 electoral votes remain the biggest battleground prize for either candidate.
"To use a Florida analogy," said polling director Brad Coker, "these numbers have stayed in a very narrow cone for both candidates." McCain's best hope, he said, may be the fact that the 7 percent of voters who remain undecided are overwhelmingly white and could decide to vote against Obama becoming America's first African-American president.
"I have no clue if you'll see it," said Coker, who noted that such last-minute voter movement has been seen in other races involving black candidates. "All I'm saying is, you could see them go for McCain. I wouldn't be shocked."

One final push to save the U.S.A.!
The challenge:
Between NOW and election day, convince at least two Obama/Undecided voters to vote for McCain. Further, convince these two people (or two others) to take up the same challenge. (Like a chain letter)
So you have converted people in the past? Good, but we need more!
Many Obama supporters are mindlessly supporting him, with no real reason, this means it is VERY easy to get them to switch over. Even if you fail, other Obama/undecideds may be in the room and hear valid arguments and question their faith in the One.
Do your part...your country depends on it!
The 9% of those undecideds across the Country are white!
Remember this?
...stood beside our cotton bales and didn’t say a thing...
It's obvious, they are bitter and clinging to their bowling balls.
Obama has stated he is going to remove the bowling alley from the White House that was installed for President Nixon and put in a basketball court in its place.
I was a poll watcher in Jacksonville today. The best T-Shirt I saw, looked like an Obama shirt. On closer inspection, I read this:
Tax me.
Abort me.
Support me.
Obama ‘08
Rural conservative voters are undercounted in polls because they refuse to participate in large numbers.
buck up there ole boy
cheers
But on a positive note for Colorado, the base is jazzed, Extremely Republican El Paso County early voting is heavy (definitely heavier than Denver County). El Paso and Denver Counties are roughly th esame population.
When I voted on Wednesday, waiting in line 90 minutes, the youth vote was almost nonexistent and half those I DID see were in Air Force or Army uniforrm.
When I went in to vote at Boca Raton City Hall the grounds were swarmed by Obamabots. I waited 2 hrs. and voted and as I was leaving, one of my very good friends had taken over the street corner with her family and new McCain Pro-Life signs. They were getting a very good response.
The silent majority is speaking.
Nobama is going to do away with concealed carry. It’s a campaign promise.
I may not know much, but one thing I know is that if this poll is correct, then Gallup’s national poll is wrong.
Thank you for the positive news.
Why did Col elect dems statewide?
We need the internals of this poll to know what is happening. Without those, it’s meaningless.
Opps - got my numbers mixed up! I swore I would not vote for McCain. Then Sarah showed up!!! A real (and I mean it) Godsend.
“7 percent of voters who remain undecided are overwhelmingly white”
So is an “overwhelming white voter” over 50% white? Be assured that there are no overwhelmingly black voters who are undecided.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the manure thingy associated with that particular Jefferson quote! Got a source?
Agreed. The sampling sizes are key. These polls to date have been drinking the Kool-Aid that assumes depressed GOP base and therefore higher donkey percentages. McCain / Palin are generating energy and this is shown in the uptick in undecideds moving in McCain’s direction.
Palin is an energy machine. She was in Central FL again today, where she needs to be. Obama’s numbers may go down a little, but what we need is our energy to turn into high turnout. All these polls showing Obama at 50 - 52% are showing a reduced GOP voting base. The last 72 hours so far are playing well for McCain and the results can outweigh the Obama baseline. I recall that the media played up that Kerry got more votes than any Democrat in history. He was up in a lot of polls because the polling bias always underestimates the Republican base support. We shall see.
