Mason-Dixon: Obama 47, McCain 45 (7% mostly white are undecided)
Orlando Sentinel ^

Posted on 11/01/2008 5:51:28 PM PDT by mathwhizz

The poll, by Mason-Dixon Polling & Research, shows Sen. Barack Obama leading Sen. John McCain 47 percent to 45 percent, well within the poll's 4-point margin of error. With the race essentially tied going into the last lap, Florida's 27 electoral votes remain the biggest battleground prize for either candidate.

"To use a Florida analogy," said polling director Brad Coker, "these numbers have stayed in a very narrow cone for both candidates." McCain's best hope, he said, may be the fact that the 7 percent of voters who remain undecided are overwhelmingly white — and could decide to vote against Obama becoming America's first African-American president.

"I have no clue if you'll see it," said Coker, who noted that such last-minute voter movement has been seen in other races involving black candidates. "All I'm saying is, you could see them go for McCain. I wouldn't be shocked."

I’ll be stunned if McCain doesn’t win FL by a big, big margin.

Encouraging. Hopefully next time around we will getter better polling methodology. Can you believe the stuff ‘professional pollsters’ have been putting out.

Didn’t see the internals, but with a lazy 625 sample size it doesn’t matter.

If McCain were to lose Florida it would be over early and I’ll be in bed by 10 (after a few stiff boubons). If he wins Florida NC and Va then I might be up all night. Gotta check the bourbon and see if I have enough for an all nighter! ;^)

Obama's stuck at 47%. The undecideds will break heavily for McCain. He's gonna take FL!

I think McCain sent Sarah down there to solidify the base. My gut tells me we win Florida and Ohio by 3 or 4 points. PA is a dead heat and will decide the election.

Maybe the undecided whites will break for McCain because they do not support infanticide and things of that nature??? I guess that thought did not occur to the pollster?

A couple of days ago, or so, I read that the exit polls in FL had McCain ahead.

Now we just have to worry about the deads, and felons voting in FL.

undecided are overwhelmingly white — and could decide to vote against Obama becoming America's first African-American president.

That's all well and good... but how many of the undecideds are arab? Because The Øne is much more Arab African than The Øne is Black African, and for that matter, The Øne has much more white in him than The Øne has Black African in him.

Rack ‘em up for McCain. I voted in S. FL. yesterday. The lines were huge and thus far it is split pretty much down the middle. This, with the enthusiastic black vote and lots of the Jewish retired vote already showing up. There is no Obama surge down here that is being reported and this is democrat country. You go up north to the I-4 corridor through Orlando and across the state, McCain has a strong advantage.

Mason-Dixon has a history of being, very, very, very good in Florida races. I would by no means dismiss the numbers.

They are actually very encouraging. If those 7% white undecideds haven’t been convinced yet by Obama and the MSM carpet bombing the airwaves with propoganda for months, I doubt they are going to vote for the hope monger on election day.
