Two well-known Canadian pranksters tricked Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin into thinking she was on the phone today with French President Nicolas Sarkozy. The conversation, captured on a Montreal radio program, was, in a word, embarrassing. (Politico's Ben Smith was among the first to pick up on reports from The Canadian Press.)
The fake Sarkozy buttered Palin up by telling her he hoped she would become president some day. "Haha, maybe in eight years," Palin replied. Then the conversation turned to helicopter hunting, with a mention of Vice President Dick Cheney's infamous bad shot.
"One of my favorite activities is to hunt, too," the fake Sarkozy said. "Oh, very good, we should go hunting together," Palin replied, adding, "I think we could have a lot of fun together as we're getting work done. We could kill two birds with one stone that way."
"I just love killing those animals! Taking away life, that is so fun," the Sarkozy impersonator said.
Palin laughed.
"As long as we don't bring Vice President Cheney," the jokester said. "I'll be a very careful shot, don't worry," Palin said, laughing.

And she is going to be portrayed as a dolt for not recognizing his voice. Right?
As if anyone of us would know the difference if you were called by someone claiming to be Sarzosky.
This is news. But we don’t have time to investigate Ayers, Rezko, Wright et al.
Got Shark. Will Jump.
Canadians trying to throw an American election? Malicious impersonation with intent to deceive? And this is supposed to influence my vote?
Wow! She’s so accessible- just one staff person to go through to speak to her! Even for a foreign dignitary that seems very generous.
(Poor ‘Betsy’ LOL! Hey dear you’re not the first.)
I have no time for this punking or pranking. People have busy lives and these assholes are timewasters. Bad karma for them. Watch this take over the damn coverage now. I think we’ll be alright though, probably minimal to no damage.
Wouldn’t be a hoot if Sarkozy ended up calling Palin in a polite gesture and response to this prank.
That would be real cool.
If the WaPo can report this non-story, why don’t they report what Zarkosy actually said about Dear Leader’s naive views of Iran??
The MSM is the one that is embarrassing.
These candidates don't just pick up the phone, they have managers setting these things up.
I worry that the media will use this to reinforce their argument that she isn’t ready to lead. They’ll say that she can’t even recognize whether she’s talking to the President of France. Of course, I think the whole thing is ridiculous, but the media will push this if they think it will help Obama.
Wouldn’t it be funny to prank call Obama, claiming to be the president of Iran. He could make jokes about the Holocaust and see if Obama laughs.
Bring it on you liberal jerks. In 72 hours you won’t be laughing.
If this is true then I think Sarah actually played this one off well. F’ing stupid Canadians
Here’s a funny prank from during the primaries where Matt Romney used a Arnold Schwartzeneggar soundboard to call his dad, Mitt Romney:

Oh how clever! This is almost as funny as when my friends and I used to prank call people in 6th grade.
I definitely share your concern but hopefully it will not hurt too much. If it takes Auntigate off the radar that would suck.
The same pranksters previously fooled Jacques Chirac and Sarkozy himself in their native French. Big deal.
At this particular moment, I suspect that BHO doesn’t have much of a sense of humor...
