All right! I am about 10 feet from Sarah's podium in Raleigh! Can't take pictures from my Blackberry but the crowd is huge... Tens of thousands lined up outside. I managed to get VIP access at the last minute for the family and we're going to get a close-up view of our next Vice President! I'll try to post updates as the night goes on.
Any Freepers in the crowd, let me know!
That’s fastastic that you and your family got to see this part of history in the making.
Look at post 181!
Unfortunately, I wasn’t there. I’m down in Fort Gordon, GA, for training, but I did watch Sarah’s speech via live feed on the internet. My mom (RightOnlinesWife) was there for the whole shebang, though.
I agree, and it is one of the odder things about this election, the media is simply saying “Democrat Turnout Heavy in NC”.
Voters in NC ticket split in Presidential years, no one mentions that, NC has far more Dem registrations then R, yet it has went R for 32 years now, that is hard tendency to ignore, yet they ignore it all the time./
The news is totally under reporting last night’s turnout. WRAL-TV news said last night that there were 10,000 in attendance, and the News & Observer said today that there were 5,000 there and that 2,000 had to be turned away.
The place was PACKED!!! According to the fairgrounds website, there is 95,000 sq. ft. of main floor space and 3,000 sq. ft. of meeting room (which I don’t know if it was utilized) in the Jim Graham Building. The stage wasn’t very big, and there were a few sections of bleachers, but the rest of it was packed with standing people.
