I spoke out about all the Obama rhetoric spouted by my co-workers, now I'm out of a job.

Given what you said in your post, I would have already spent my last day there.

Right now they are happy as contented cows because they cannot believe he could possibly lose. But, If O loses and riots break out, Nov 4 will be my last day. My life expectancy would drop to zero if I stayed there.

For the record, I wasn't terminated, I resigned.

Sorry, its late and I am skimming through posts. If you have some technical skills, I may be able to help.

Hard to just get out.

It's only as hard as you agree it is.

You have more ability to strike out successfully in a new direction than you're allowing to yourself.

Brother, I've done that very thing too many times in my life to remember. The only time that I suffered hardship with changing direction, is when I went into agreement with small minded people around me.

Your job isn't your security. You are. In fact, the only security you ever really have is in yourself.

I have nothing to lose now, my former employer is Dish Network.

Apparently not all. Last week I had Dish installed and I was listening to el Rusbo and turned him off. The tech man, said don't turn it off, I like to hear him!!!

Go to the EEOC. They don’t like employers at all.

What kind of work are you looking for?

If that's true, then your co-workers already have you pegged. You're skating on very thin ice, my friend.

Ensure your safety, or be gone. Do not compromise with that.

Then just wait and see what will happen on Nov. 5th. when McCain/Palin wins. That will be a nightmare!!!

I won't have to worry about it at that point because Detroit will be a war zone and when it's all done there won't be enough left over to scoop up and put into a sandwich bag.

I live far away from there and they aren't coming to my area ... unlike smarter animals these morons foul their own nest.

My parents grew up in Mussolini’s Italy.

You had to be REAL careful of what you said. Not only were the Fascist Vigilance Committee spies listening, but the opposition Communists were listening, too. Say the wrong thing within earshot of either of these factions, and you could be killed.

When somebody asked you what you thought of Mussolini, if you were critical of him, the fascists would get you. If you were too uncritical of him, the communists would get you.

The solution that everyday folks came up with was to say, “He makes the trains run on time.”

Italy’s train system was the laughing stock of Europe. Until Mussolini ordered the execution of a few train crews for being late. Right in front of all the passengers. Needless to say, the trains started running very much on time.

So it was safe to say, “He makes the trains run on time,” as either faction found that a satisfactory answer.

We may have to say things about 0bama like, “He cares for the poor,” or “He has a universal health plan,” and hope that the Obamabot that asked is happy with the answer and doesn’t press for any clarifications or elaborations.

You should have let them fire you and found a good lawyer and wound up owning the company.

“This in a no win situation, and I’ve lost my job because of it. My livelihood.”

I’m REALLY not trying to sound trite, but:

Whenever God closes a door, He opens a window.

Sometimes it’s hard to see the “window” because we’re used to seeing a door, but the window IS there.

I would work for a temp agency like Kelly (all kinds of temps, even tech temps) and then as I applied for a permanent position I would claim the promise that my new position will be a better situation than the one I had before.

I just feel so much like a letdown to all of my family right now, my children and two beautiful grandbabies.
My late daddy worked in a factory, and I'm sure it wasn't easy for him.
Why couldn't I have stuck it out, with all the Obama comments? Why couldn't I have let myself be humiliated with, after I spoke my opinion, to being monitored and “babysat” with a person who was going to sit by me while I took my calls. I stayed professional, even during the calls about the Obama channel that is being aired on the company I worked for.
While I listened to my co-workers telling customers how great that channel is.
Channel 73.
The calls came in, wondering why their channels would revert to that channel, and I would tell them that it was a fluke in the system.
The Obama channel.

I’m sorry to hear that. Back in the early 90’s I went through some hell myself. I learned to be the agressor and spout the “hostile environment” buzz word before the evil crap came to a head. BTW I was the one in charge.

Someone (Zappa or Dylan) that “you should not be where you don’t belong.” Sounds like you are in that place.

I get this too and I am abroad. I get asked daily at least five times did I cast my vote for Obama yet via “postal ballot”

And they don’t want to hear what the problems of Obama or Biden are.

I have three former friends who refuse to speak to me now since I do not support the Democratic ticket this time and keep calling me racist etc since I am from the South (sort of like Murtha did in Western Pennsylvania) and they refuse to listen to anything or any point and even when I talk about the bankruptcy reform act that Biden pushed through with his son being a lobbyist to point out how they aren’t really there for poor people etc.

I have family who won’t talk to me either. It is like they are on some sort of drug. I told them they all sound like religious zealots who are on opium and we had to just agree to disagree on this one. They say okay and then back at it again later with more crap. I finally have to say something that I don’t mean or is tacky to get people to quit harassing me. And many are just voting because he is black. I point out to them that is racist and I get jumped on.

I know when I am in a situation where it isn’t going to make a difference, I have adopted a line or a modification of a line that my granny said before she passed in response to when people asked her as to how she voted. She used to say when people asked, 1. she voted right and kept saying that over or 2. she voted correctly for her or 3. it is rude to ask people how they voted. Those lines got the workplace lynch mob off of me twice. And some very rude private comments where no one could hear me got a few drug infested zealots off of my back to the point they don’t talk to me which is fine.

I don’t know what state you are in, but I would think being fired for political beliefs may have some sort of federal law or something involved so document and keep a diary.

They are all going to be ticked off six months to a year from now when things don’t improve.
