I spoke out about all the Obama rhetoric spouted by my co-workers, now I'm out of a job.
When I couldn't take it anymore, I requested a "confidential" meeting with my supervisor.
The next day I got called into a closed door meeting about my "lack of productivity", although I've had many honors for my technical/customer service skills, (my last rating was a 92 out of 100) but was told that I was not meeting up to expectations, ironically the day after the meeting with my supervisor about my feeling on keeping one's politial feeling to themselves. I was told I would be "shadowed", and would be under scrutiny in all facets of my job, until I lived up to their expectations.
At that point, I saw the writing on the wall. My heath was starting to suffer, having to listen to all the Obama supporters, ad naseaum, and the humiliation of being embassased at work, by being singled out. So I turned in my resignation. It was basically that, or get terminated. That was made very clear.
I guess I wish I would have kept my mouth shut. I'm now out of a job, and have no money coming in to pay my bills. However, it was my decision, and I will make it, with alot of prayer, and hopefully a job at McDonalds, or a gas station, anything until I can find something better.
So, my advice to all of you out there....well, I'm not sure...speak out, if you have an understanding company who values your opinion...and if you don't....keep your mouth shut, like I probably should have.
I know this is common, too. A friend of mine was threatened at her workplace and told she would be prosecuted if her name was attached to any anti Obama emails.
I wonder if you have some sort of discrimination lawsuit.
Hire a labor attorney and sue for mental harrassment. You should never resign - make them get rid of you so you can collect unemployment.
She could get around the whole anti-obama thing by just sending out a pro-McCain email....
/sarc
Should have stuck to your guns and made them fire you...then sued...and contacted the McCain campaign
For every potential lawsuit there’s a lawyer. This is America, don’t ya know.
She actually did NOT send the email, but was a mere recipient.
Thanks for validating that I’m not the only one going through this nightmare....send me a freepmail is you can so we can discuss this....
Tuesday is a vote whether to condone fascism or to reject it.
Scary stuff. This is why so many conservative students remain silent in college classrooms. Fear of retribution by the teachers. Nows its spread to the work place.
I am very sorry this happened to you.
Great to see you back, Lisa. Hang in there.
My wife told me recently that she is going out of her mind listening to the same crap in her office which, besides her, is totally for Obama and for them he is not a politician but a savior from heaven.
If you did that in Michigan, your life would have been threatened as well.
Sorry you ended up in this situation. Sorry you resigned, too. I would have made them fire me, then lawyered up. Actually, you might call your local law association to see if someone would do a short consult with you pro bono ... maybe you have standing for a lawsuit anyway.
You should immediately contact the HR department and request a copy of all your performance evaluations and specific, written documentation on your dismissal. Often, that kind of request alone can put the fear of God into a company re wrongful termination lawsuits and you may have a job back- that, or a nice severance package.
I’m sorry you lost your job.
I’m glad you kept your self respect.
Hang in there.
Very bad to lose your job in this economy. I hope you can pick up the pieces somewhere else.
If I were in your place, I would spend the next four days off work trying to get McCain elected just to stick it to those people. No one should speak against Hussein at work if they value their job. His supporters are fanatical, and wouldn’t hesitate to destroy someone and their family just to punish someone for not falling in line behind the messiah.
You are NOT alone, I go through this daily!!! I hear his name or see his face where I work (a government office) every second of the day!
OPINION:
Hi Lisa.
I’m sorry to hear about your experience.
Christians have experienced the same problem you did in the work place.
I’ll pray for you.
Go to a temporary work agency and work for them while applying for various jobs.
It’s always easier to find a job it seems, when one is employed — even in a temporary position.
