Is MO Still The Litmus State To Watch/ McCain Up .4
Realclearpolitics

Posted on 10/31/2008 5:18:13 PM PDT by TCTopcat

Is MO still the litmus state it has been? I seem to remember that in the last 100 years MO has predicted the winner of every presidential elections except one.

I do remember reading that the demographics of MO made it the ultimate poll.

I'm not sure if that goes out the window this election? Opinions? If not Realclearpolitics has McCain up .4 in MO and that might be a bit of encouragement for our guy.

I don’t think Missouri is a bellwether state any longer. Bush’s 2004 margin in MO was over double his popular vote margin. VA is moving to battleground state status, while MO may be safe Republican by 2012..

It’s not solidly Republican, the ‘06 election race attests to that, but it’s not the state I’d focus on this election.

Virginia and Colorado are.

Some people would say PA and NH, because if PA turns McCain the race might as well be called early. NH might single good news with Virginia, and some mid-west states. I’m not convinced either are going to turn yet. I’d stick wih he two above.

Can you please explain some thing for me about VA...

I see other posters saying VA might go Dem for long time...why? What are the demographics??

How about CO?

In my opinion you NEED BOTH VA + CO to win, i think PA is going to be very hard....

Mo is slightly Repubby. But that very slight advantage is offset by regular and massive vote fraud in St Louis. Polls are on extended hours to ensure an individual has an opportunity to exercise his/her right in several precincts several times. If the polls stay open all night in St Louis, mark it in the Obamaboy camp.

I believe the Missouri trend because it pre-dates all the modern polling and Frank the Putz Luntz-o-meters.

I don’t believe any polls because of myriad factors that they cannot compensate for, such as the fact that up to 80% refuse to respond to some pollsters, and an unknown percentage intentional lie when they do.

This is a bit of a thin straw to grasp. Ida felt a whole lot better if there wasn’t that 1 failure in 100 yrs. Still, I’ll grab that straw and hold on tight.

The number of Obama signs has been increasing in NH. One poll has Obama +25% over McCain. This is a drastic rise from the 5% or so advantage Obama was enjoying (hard to believe).

Thank God this state is finally getting it’s head out of it’s rear - Missouri is Red as Red. Now enough of this bs with Arizona, Montana, Indiana, NC - they are all locks. Florida and Ohio are in the bag - we need to get back Virginia and Colorado (or get Penn) and it’s going to be a sad sorry nite for the DemoGods. The real god, Jesus, is pulling for The Maverick and his sidekick Sarah

Northeastern Virginia is increasingly populated by federal employees.

My daughters friend in Rescue Va. is freaking out over Obama winning Va. She said so many New Yorkers have moved to Va. it is going blue.

I pray she is wrong.

I would NOT make any sort of bet about Missouri.

Projections are that Democrat Jay Nixon is about to be our next governor
(defeating Republican Kenny Hulshof).
After the Dems get some lib-judges in St. Louis and Kansas City
to keep the polls open until enough votes are manufactured to
give the state to Obama...
well, let's just say Obama does have a shot here if his ACORN foot-
soldiers don't hit the bottle too early on Election Day.

Trust me, if the MSM objectively reported things in MO on Election
Day, the headline would be NOT "vote suppresion", but "vote creation"
(voter fraud).

Speaking of our friend Luntz, did you see him on Bill O’Reilly tonight? He basically said BO was our next president and he would be watching him to see if he keeps his promises. O’Reilly let him get away with it...

SW MO seems pretty conservative, so they say. 0bama must be worried about our part of the state, because he’s having a rally right here in Springfield at a high school stadium tomorrow night. I think the news report said the stadium holds 7 to 8000. No tickets necessary, as they were for Sarah last week. I say worried, because he’s spending the last Sat. night before the election at a rally HERE? And the weather should be perfect. I hate that. I don’t want him in my city, but couldn’t we have a nice cold hailstorm or something??

My daughters friend in Rescue Va. is freaking out over Obama winning Va.
She said so many New Yorkers have moved to Va. it is going blue.

If she understood how many Islamics there are in Northern VA,
she’d be “freaking out” even more.
IIRC, the triumph of the prickly Jim Webb over Sen. Allen was partly
attributed to the Islamic vote in VA.

Of course, some of those Islamics probably are former New Yorkers
and/or Federal gov. workers!!!
