Charlie Cook: If McCain Wins I'll Quit Polling, Go Bag Groceries
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 10/31/2008 5:05:08 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

If Team McCain needed some "bulletin-board material"—the kind of outrageous taunt from the opposition a coach will pin up in the locker-room to inspire his troops—they got if from Charlie Cook tonight. So confident is the pollster of an Obama victory, he's proclaimed that if McCain wins, he'll go to work bagging groceries or behind a fast-food counter.

Cook was a guest on this evening's Race for the White House. It was in looking at the Electoral College map with host David Gregory that he made his super-sized pledge.

bag groceries??

Ha ha, Charlie, if only you were qualified for that job.

Why don’t you scrub toilets instead?

Anyway, all these liberals make all these promises about disappearing “if X wins” and yet they never follow through, they never keep their promises.

I’m still waiting to see most of Hollyweird living in France, and I will be delighted to see Charlie Cook bagging groceries at his local Safeway......

“You’ll know he bagged your groceries when you find bites taken out of your food.”

Now that’s funny!

I want to beat this man up - perhaps soon enough when I roll up to the Wendy’s drive thru to get my double stack. Go Maverick! Go Palin!

Early in his career, he was a campaign consultant for Democrats and for a builders’ lobby.

he readily acknowledges some of his failed predictions. In 2006, he said he has “tread marks on my forehead” after understating the Republican gains in the 1994 midterm Congressional elections, and in July 2008, at a time when U.S. Senator John McCain had for many months been the presumptive presidential nominee of the Republican Party, Cook reminded his audience that he had “written McCain off as politically dead just a year ago”.

Cook formerly worked for on Capital Hill for then Senator J. Bennett Johnston, Jr., a Democrat from Shreveport who served from 1972-1997. Cook also worked for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and the Democratic Policy Committee. He has also worked on campaigns at the congressional, senatorial, and presidential levels. In addition, he worked as a pollster and campaign consultant and on the staff of BUILD-PAC, the political action committee of the trade association, the National Association of Home Builders.

Either way Charlie is cooked. After four years of a B.O. economy he’ll be bagging groceries if he’s lucky.

Charlie needs to buy a better "rug".

The one he's wearing looks like he bought it at a garage sale.

Take a number Charlie - there will be lots of us looking for those bagging jobs.

When I was a military wife during the first Gulf War, the baggers at the commissary worked for tips ONLY. Doesn’t that sound great?!

Charlie Cook... "expert" in an inexact "science."

You think at this point, you wrote it would take divine intervention for him to pull this off.

Be very careful about that "divine intervention" stuff. :)
