A massive shift in younger and older voters is roiling the presidential race according to new data from the Fox News/Opinion Dynamics Poll concluded October 28-29. Younger voters -- under 45 -- once Obama's base, now are evenly divided between the two candidates. But voters over 65 have shifted sharply to the Democrat in the past week.
Voters under 45 supported Obama by 52-38 in the Fox News poll of October 21-22. But this week's survey indicates that they now break evenly with 45% supporting Obama and 46% backing McCain. On the other hand, voters 65 and over, who had backed Obama by 46-42 last week have now shifted decisively in his favor and he now leads McCain among seniors by 54-39. Middle aged voters -- aged 45-64 -- are largely unchanged in their views. Last week they backed Obama by 48-40 and this week they still support him by 48-43.
Overall, the Fox News survey shows McCain narrowing Obama's lead from 49-40 (9 points) to 47-44 (3 points) over the past week.

I doubt that Obama will win the over 55 vote like this poll is showing.
If even remotely true, the SS Obama has tipped vertical.
I don’t believe for one moment that the “over 65” group is voting for Obama.
What a travesty it will be if the ‘greatest generation’ ends up plunging us toward fascism. Positive thoughts, this is all spin, they would never do that!!!

Are seniors falling for the same old “Republicans want to end social security” fear mongering again?
There’s a whole lot of intelligent people among the younger generation...
:)
How can older people be so dumb? Most live on fixed income and any tax increase (capital gains) will kill them. And you would think given the scandal surrounding Hussein’s campaign and the moral decay generally surrounding the left they would be more likely to support a family values Republican.
He lives a block off University ave.
His neighborhood is all students and not 1 Obama sticker.
We walked a block to eat dinner and on University ave again I look as our table faced the main drive in Gainesville and McCain stickers out numbered the Obama 10-1 that drove by.
Oh, and put me down for McCain/Palin...
I’m at least 46..
But I’m a maverick...
:)
Huh? This makes no sense. No WAY over-65 voters are going for Obama. It’d be nice if the youth were shifting to McCain, but I question it.
my daughter just informed me that her dorm at NC State has McCain posters on many windows and no Obama. I’ll try to get a picture.
Some of them might but all the ones I know here in CA are voting McCain/Palin, including me, actually I have already voted for them and for Prop 8 also:). Many of the over 65 crowd I know, and being retired I know quite a few, aren't paying attention to the news because they say it pisses them off and they already know who they are going to vote for anyway, and that is McCain/Palin. BTW, the reason for most of them voting that way is condensed in two words: Sarah Palin.
I know several lifelong democrats over 65. Not a single one is voting for Obama. Some are staying home and some are voting Mccain.

>>I dont believe for one moment that the over 65 group is voting for Obama.
Of course they will. They cant’s wait to pay higher taxes and lose their 401k investments!/s
Gators are pretty influential in FL. If you saw 10 to 1 for McCain then Obama does not have a chance in FL. I never thought he did anyway.
Maybe the college students have finally learned that zero and Charley Rangel want to bring back the draft to include females and no deferments for being a college student. Rah, rah, rah!!!
“I dont believe for one moment that the over 65 group is voting for Obama.”
All the dead ones over 65, and the ones in nursing homes with alzheimer’s.
