So here is Obama's problem --
Time Magazine on December 18th 2007(after an extensive intereview with BHO) says Barack Obama speaks Bahasa Indonesian.

QUOTE:"When prominent Indonesians visit the U.S., the first person they want to meet is Obama, says Parnohadiningrat Sudjadnan, the Indonesian ambassador to the U.S. 'Back home people think of him as one of us, or at least one who understands us,' he says, adding that they are delighted to find that Obama speaks passable Bahasa, the language spoken in Indonesia and Malaysia. "
BUT....
On July 11th, 2008 Barak Obama says tells a political report from CBSNEWS:
QUOTE:
I don't speak a foreign language. It's embarrassing! Barack Obama exclaimed today at town hall meeting here. Obama, who often touts his time growing up overseas, made the confession while speaking about the importance of teaching foreign languages in schools.

Some people will lie about the color of their socks for no particular reason. On this issue, however, I think he had a VERY good reason to lie.
Good one!! Another piece of fraudulent b.s. from the Obamessiah. I’d assumed he couldn’t really speak much of a language he only knew when he was 6-10 years old, unless he had made a major effort to retain and improve his skills over the years, and there was no indication that he had done so.
What’s important here is that your children learn Spanish.
He’s a liar. We already know that.
Otherwise, so what?
FReep this Digg!!! Let’s get the vote out!!!

I thought he could recite from the Koran in Arabic due to his days in the Maddrasa!(sp)
The article describes his skill as "passable", that means not really very fluent. I wouldn't claim a language I couldn't speak reasonably well.
If I recall correctly, he also spent quite a bit of time in a madrasa, which should mean he also knows a good deal of Arabic due to the islamic indoctrination that occurs in those places.
He must speak bahasa Indonesia, or at least enough to get through an airport or shop. It is inconceivable that a child spending four years there, playing around the kampung (neighborhood) and attending sekola (school) and mesjid (mosque) would NOT pick up bahasa Indonesia. It isn’t a hard language.
He’s lying about knowing it or he considers that his skills are too rusty to count. At the very least he understands more than is realized.
It’s easy to tell when Barry is lying; his lips are moving.
William Jefferson Barak Clintbama.
“Whats important here is that your children learn Spanish.”
Here, where? The U.S.?
But wait! Maybe he thinks ‘Bahasa’ isn’t ‘foreign’ but is actually his native language and English is his second language.
Obama opined that every American should be bilingual, so in order not to look like a hypocrite, he claimed he could speak Indonesian. Apparently he can’t, so he lied. No surprise.
However, more Americans should be bilingual in either Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, Pashtu, Russian, Chinese, or Korean, because our intel community always needs linguists with these skills.
Ping!
* He has a BA from Columbia College
* Columbia College REQUIRES four semesters of a foreign language and Mastery of that language to graduate...
* So, what language did he study at Columbia? who knows! He wont release his transcript.
* So we are left to guess — did he study more Indonesian? if yes, he should be more than “passable.” If no, perhaps he studied Russian? (Remember his mom and dad MET in a Russian class so we know his mom spoke some Russian) Or perhaps he studied Arabic so that he continue to study the Koran...
In any event — why wont he just tell the truth about his foreign language training?
Well, well, UhBamUh!
“Mur-see bo-coo”.
Effing idiot.
Whatever ..... the terrorists want Obama to win.
I agree with some of the others. His Bahasa is probably pretty basic, pretty rusty, so he doesn’t claim it.
But Indonesians who meet him are impressed that an American speaks any at all, so they compliment him on it.
I learned a long time ago. If people are bragging on your language skills, don’t take it to heart; if your language skills were really that good, no one would comment one way or the other.
