Boy shocked by campaign sign

Shawn Turschak of Chapel Hill was tired of someone stealing McCain-Palin campaign signs from his yard.

So the man with a degree in electrical engineering hooked up a third sign to a power source for an electric pet fence Monday. Turschak also put up a surveillance camera.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reports that Tuesday, a 9-year-old boy with an Obama-Biden sign grabbed the McCain-Palin sign and got a jolt.

The boy's father, Andrew Noble, then showed up at the Turschak's door, upset his son had been shocked. Soon an Orange County sheriff's deputy also showed up at the Turschak's home.

Noble says his son just wanted to see how the sign was put together. Turschak says the boy intended to swap out the signs.

Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass said he doesn't plan to file charges.

Good old Chapel Hill. At least there's one person who'll be voting for McCain there.

Can the sign owner file charges for trespassing?

Had my parents found out I was tresspassing and trying to steal something from someone’s yard, they would have said I deserved the shock (and probably would have handed out a lot more).

We’re raising a nation of pansies.

I think dad sent his 9 year old out on the mission in order to preserve plausible deniability. Bad idea.

The boy’s father showed up upset that his son had been shocked.

Once upon a time, back when there was a such thing as right and wrong, shame and things like that, the boy would have heard, “Lucky you didn’t get worse than that! Why were you messing with someone else’s property?”

But that was back in the day.

Noble says his son just wanted to see how the sign was put together.

Then his son should have knocked on the door of the private property owner and requested to examine the private property OR his son should have asked his dad. Of course, given that his dad is a liberal, is it any wonder this child has no idea how to put together a sign (or probably do anything else that would require logical reasoning?)

0bama ‘adults’ sending children to do the work that the ‘adults’ can't be bothered to do. The immaturity of 0bama supporters is pervasive.

Had my parents found out I was tresspassing and trying to steal something from someone’s yard, they would have said I deserved the shock (and probably would have handed out a lot more).

Me too. My dad would have sided with the sign owner and made sure that the sign owner knew I would be punished.

We’re raising a nation of pansies.

Yes, but it's worse than that. We are raising a bunch of spoiled brats who think they are invincible because Mommy and Daddy too often bail them out. ("bail out" chosen intentionally, for obvious reasons)

HAHA! Nice non lethal reminder. It’s kind of sad though. That boy was only nine so someone put him up to it. I can’t believe the father had the audacity to complain.

When the kid is older and steals cars, he can claim he just wanted to see how much gas mileage it got.

Girlieman liberal sending his innocent kid to do illegal political dirty work. Liberals are sick in the head. Makes one wonder — would he strap tnt to his kid, too?

Awesome!

Note the father of the boy's lame excuse about just wanting to see how it was put together. Hey, idiot dad; it was put together just like the one you're toting for Obama, you moron!!

When I was growing up if I had got shocked by an electric fence or such on someone else's property my day would have given me a swat and told me it served me right for trespassing where I don't belong. We were taught to stay out of other peoples yards unless they invited you.
