"If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide." Abraham Lincoln
As Election Day rapidly approaches, many Americans are wondering why so many of their countrymen reject a genuine war hero with decades of experience, one whose pro-life, limited-government values pretty much reflect those of Middle America. Instead, these same countrymen are enthralled with a man who not only has no experience or qualifications for the job, but who is, in fact, the most radically left-wing major-party presidential candidate of our lifetime, having been mentored and supported for decades by terrorists (Ayers), communists (Davis), America-hating racists (Wright) and criminals (Rezko).
Doesn't make much sense, does it?
After all, in past presidential contests, Americans have flatly rejected ultraliberal candidates like McGovern, Mondale and Dukakis and those guys weren't nearly as radicalized as Obama, who the nonpartisan National Journal rates as having the most left-wing voting record in the entire U.S. Senate even more so than socialist Bernie Sanders! Moreover, recently it's been proven, despite his campaign's denials, that Obama was indeed a member of the socialist "New Party." And Obama himself confesses that during his college days he intentionally sought out Marxists as friends.
So, how do we explain all this? Why are so many of us eager to turn our nation, the greatest and noblest on earth, over to an angry-at-America, hardcore left-wing "change agent" who will with the help of a like-minded, Democrat-dominated Congress and a liberal-activist federal judiciary bring about radical "change" to every area of our lives? Just consider:

A synopsis of the article for those out there with short attention spans—Obama is the biggest POS EVER to run for President.
Do we all realize that it is possible that if we are not raptured first we may end up being exterminated? It might not happen immediately or it could. I don’t doubt that it is the plan for us. It depends on how much power and backing he actually has or acquires. We shall see.
"All the armies of Europe, Asia and Africa combined, with all the treasure of the earth (our own excepted) in their military chest; with a Buonaparte for a commander, could not by force, take a drink from the Ohio, or make a track on the Blue Ridge, in a trial of a thousand years. At what point then is the approach of danger to be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us. It cannot come from abroad. If destruction be our lot, we must ourselves be its author and finisher. As a nation of freemen, we must live through all time, or die by suicide."
- Abraham Lincoln, 1838
“Do we all realize that it is possible that if we are not raptured first we may end up being exterminated?”
That’s not very fair!
From the voters with whom I have spoken...
You nailed it right on. The people I know who otherwise seem to be reasonably intelligent are so flaming mad at “Dumb as a Box of Rocks” GWB they are blindly voting Dem... and nothing I have been able to do will convince them otherwise.
Thanks for posting the entire quote. Notice Lincoln's use of the word 'Freemen.' The majority of voters in 2008, don't fit the description and requirements that would've made them eligible to be freemen.
You never know where one small event might take the world.
A former co-worker once said: "It's not that he's arrogant that's his problem. It's that he doesn't seem to care that he's perceived as arrogant...and that really irritates people."
George Bush, who’s kept this country safe for 8 years. Sigh. (What a terrible president.) I told this to my friend who’s obstinately voting Obama even though she’s a racial bigot...because he’ll give her socialized medicine, and she’s tired of paying for her own healthcare. My friend had to agree that Bush had not only kept us safe, he’d done so in the face of unrelenting hatred from the MSM. Lots of reasons to be mad at GW, including invasion from the south, but Obama will dig this republic’s grave.
Communism, of course, is atheistic where the government is the only true god, the giver of blessings, the solver of problems, the dispenser of justice and mercy. This envy-based, class-warfare-fueled revolutionary system talks always of justice, fairness, progress but the only progress it delivers is from freedom to slavery...This is the appeal more and more Americans have been conditioned over the years to respond to, as we have progressively fallen away from the Judeo-Christian values that once animated our culture and institutions.
Once we abandon faith - whether the personal faith of a Christian or Jew or even the more impersonal faith of the deist - we have abandoned the outside standard against which to judge our lives. Everything then becomes relative, and our lives are then defined from the outside, in this case, by a Marxist ideology that puts the government where God used to be.
These people have not spent 40 years (since the 60s) undermining us; they have spent almost 100 years, since the spread of Marxism into the US and its acceptance by the Progressive Era theorists who were behind the US public education system. So if you want to know who or what to thank for this slow and steady culture change, thank the public schools.
Then go on and thank the academy in general, particularly the Ivies. What you are seeing with the Mysterious One is simply the moment at which the academy, completely taken over by Marxist thought, achieves its goal and takes over the US, with the consent of the citizens the academy has been slowly conditioning for nearly a century. Evil is nothing if not patient.
Running up the national debt is not "keeping this country safe," but like your friend who doesn't see the bigger picture of the costs of socialized medicine, most people don't consider the greater harm done by spending ourselves into harm's way. It's exactly how Osama bin Laden said he'd damage us the most...by getting us to spend, spend, spend.
> Running up the national debt is not “keeping this country safe,”
Fighting asymmetrical warfare against a shadowy foe half-way ‘round the globe AS WELL AS amongst the US population is, of a necessity, an expensive proposition. The US must have taken a HUGE productivity hit as a direct result of 9/11: that has to have had some effect on your national debt, for sure.
On all of it? I dunno — I’m not an economist. Bush has been a really good war-time President IMO and History is likely to judge him kindly, just as it has (rightfully) with St Reagan. I can recall all sorts of nasty things said about him during and after his two terms, almost until his death. Now? It is difficult to find anyone who will say a bad thing about Ronald Reagan.
Too early to judge GWB’s eight years harshly, IMO. And (God Forbid!) if Obama becomes your next President, GWB is going to look like a Genius by comparison.
Fantastic article. Well-written and to the point.
Thanks for posting it!
Thank you. I've grown so weary of so much criticism and so few kind words for the President.
So true...that is the “butterfly’s wings in Asia”
State schools, too. My daughter just graduated from the University of Oregon. She went in as a sensible girl and came out as an Obama loving left winger. I’m so upset about this that I just boil about it every day.
Proclaiming that "Red is Green" that long and often would render many folks mentally colorblind...
