“Can you imagine if you had your Social Security invested in the stock market these last two weeks? These last two months?”

Well, am I also allowed to imagine if I could have invested for the previous 20 years and the next 20 to 30 years? What if I could have used MY Social Security “contributions” to purchase a long term investment/rental house?

“This is the big one, Elizabeth. I’m comin’ to join ya’ honey!”

I guess his hip, east coast, 20-something white interns wrote his speech since he probably didn’t get many American shows in Indonesia. What a tool. They could at least watch TV Land before attempting 70’s US TV trivia.

Well, if this doesn't call for a repost of my Jefferson's musings on the announcement of Isabel Sanford's death...

Growing up, I never had a close relationship with my own parents, and logically, George and Weezy Jefferson became vicarious parent figures in my own life. Whenever I was confronted with a problem, I could always count on sage and level headed advice to be portioned out by Weezy or a crazy, harebrained scheme by George to give me guidance.

Lionel was like a brother to me and I have to say that I felt a great sense of betrayal when he continued to make guest appearances on All in the Family. However, that paled in comparison when my muse, Florence, left to try her hand at a spin-off. That bit of treachery still causes bad feelings to this day.

George and Weezy weren't perfect, George calling me "honky" during the Thanksgiving episode was particularly hurtful, and Weezy probably let me get away with more than she should, but I still get a warm, sentimental feeling whenever I stop by the drycleaners.

the princes of greed, he said,

A friend of mine who is a few years younger than me married some chick from Seattle who he went to school with. She asked who we were talking about when we were discussing JJ once. She had no idea who he was or that Good Times was a show that ran forever in syndication. This was the mid 90's and both of them were late 20's

Years ago it seemed that Good Times was on back to back every weekday for ages on some indpendent stations. I miss independent stations a lot.

Wrong about Batman. Wrong for America.

Because "Weezie" is a funny, "Black" name.

Wow! Barry's a racist. Who knew?

The Demonrats keep repeating this lie that the GOP plan is for retirement money to go "into the stock market." The GOP simply wants people to have the right to invest their money, rather than have crooked politicians spend it immediately, leaving only a promise that there will be a payout when the citizens retire. Even investment in something ultraconservative like Treasury bills would beat Socialist Security.

That ain’t right.

The Zero went to Columbia and Harvard, and we're supposed to believe he's "just folks" because he affects ungrammatical speech.

Michelle definitely has a Shirley Hemphill-like disposition - permanently frowning, disgruntled and sarcastic (except that Shirley was funny).

At least the Social Security money would be invested SOMEWHERE, as opposed to its current AWOL status vis-a-vis the “lockbox.”
