State Sen. Kay Hagan says she'll go to court to seek a cease-and-desist order against U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole's campaign if the "godless" TV spot isn't pulled in the next 24 hours.
Hagan, a Democrat, held a press conference this morning with her family and minister at the Presbyterian church in Greensboro where she is an elder and has taught Sunday school.
Hagan's campaign said it had delivered letters to Dole's Raleigh and Salisbury offices and her Washington, D.C., home, giving the campaign 24 hours to pull the ad before Hagan's campaign took legal recourse.
The political ad suggests Hagan is "godless" because she attended a fundraiser in Boston in September at the home of author Wendy Kaminer and her husband, Woody Kaplan, who was on the advisory board of the Godless Americans political action committee and active in a group that promotes "secular" ideas.
The TV ad features an announcer saying "Godless Americans and Kay Hagan. She hid from cameras. Took godless money. What did Hagan promise in return?"
Hagan and Dole are in a tight race for the Senate race.

That might be a positive thing, because I suspect much of the “Block Vote” won’t have the patience to wait in line or the forethought to vote early.
Hammond IN
I guess Northern VA liked Webb’s i*ce*tu*us ga* po*n.
Now who wouldn't want to move into this dream home ? Ain't that a honey ?
Incestuous gay pedophiliac porn. A real low-rent Nabokov that makes the average “Dear Penthouse” letter writer look like Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
The question is....will it turn people off Dole? I hope not, but sometimes these things tend to do the opposite if too strong.
Yes, it will. The woman claiming to be godly is knowingly committing false witness. She's LYING.
If that's not a turnoff to undecided voters, I don't know what is. Thanks to Liddy, dems might get a veto proof majority.
Dole should be ashamed of herself, but I suppose she sold her soul for power a long time ago.
oops. Can I say that? Am I lying? Bearing false witness? ...........
Dole is right.
And most of the Presbyterians that I’ve known are quite Godless. What’s her gripe?
Then why have they not excommunicated her? Her beliefs are not Biblical.
How so? Sounds like Dole is correct.
That's just wrong. I can't believe that christians believe this is ok.
No, she is making the point that that her opponent is worshipping a false god, of her own creation. Her opponent could not otherwise embrace such Godlessness.
Christians embrace only Christ; all others are false.
How smug and self righteous.
God’s word is clear; all that fails to fit is not of God. Not smug, nor has it anything to do with self, just reality.
It's definitely misleading.
Will this ad work? There’s been a pretty big backlash. I remember Helms use to do this but its been about 10 years since he left the senate.
Hagan, your party is evil enough.
