By CHARLOTTE EBY, Courier Des Moines Bureau DES MOINES --- Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama will head to Iowa Friday for a rally in the Des Moines area, just four days before voters are scheduled to head to the polls.
The event will be open to the public, and details will be released later in the week. Obama had to cancel a planned trip to Iowa last week in order to visit his ailing grandmother in Hawaii.
Barack Obamas campaign to change Washington has deep roots in Iowa, so it is fitting that he returns once again to remind Iowans what is at stake this election, said Jackie Norris, Obamas state director in Iowa..
Obamas trip comes after Republican John McCain and running mate Sarah Palin visited the state for a campaign swing this past weekend.
A Lee Enterprises poll released over the weekend showed Obama with a 15-point lead over McCain in Iowa.

Sheesh, what a world I am living in.
HA ! Take that Obama. You were banking on Iowa !
Someone from Iowa said 0bama was strong there for two reasons:
1. The economy
2. War losses
FWIW
This is great news!
Four days before election this means he needs to shore up Iowa.
I wonder what other states we think are out of play are in play?
Sheesh!!!!
3. Ethanol
He is all over PA, and IA. So much for all this McCain losing all the bush states non sense.
This election comes down to PA, VA, and CO. And I believe that Obama is definitely behind the 8 ball in CO, and VA demographics haven’t changed enough to flip that state.
We are going to win and destroy the left wing and the left wing media.
>>>Would Iowans really vote for a hostile black racist who favors communists and terrorists as friends?
Tom Harkin keeps getting elected.
Outside of the big cities, what kind of people could really support Obama?
Well, just remember what Iowa stands for....
Something doesn't add up.
A Lee Enterprises poll released over the weekend showed Obama with a 15-point lead over McCain in Iowa.
_______
Obama is not going to win Iowa by 15 points. He’s not even going to win New York by 15 points!
These polls are a joke.
Well, well, well....
“Apparently McCain’s not the only one who thinks Iowa’s in play...”
Yeah, Obama doesn’t go to Iowa if he’s really got a 15 point lead.
What 8 ball in CO jock? I’ve been hearing a lot from Morgan in Denver, but wondering what is your take. Explain “8 ball”.
Sorry, meant John
Article yesterday
They aren’t seeing the ballots come back from the voters they are depending on. If the ballots don’t come back by election day, too late.
The truth about Colorado is that dem and rep registrations are basically even now. But Republican turnout machine in CO is excellent, if the Dems can’t match the turnout (ie the requested mail in ballots don’t come back) they won’t win CO.
In fact, 60% of the votes in Colorado are by mail, and republicans have a 30000 vote edge on those voters eligible to vote on election day (didn’t request early ballot).
I think we are going to destroy the leftwing Dems and we will be helped by many moderate/blue dog/Hillary Dems.
Obama hijacked their party. This is their last chance to get it back before it becomes the Obama ACORN Marxist Dem Party.
I think Obama will lose Iowa. These IA farmers may be thinking ethanol but they are also thinking about passing the farm onto their kids and estate taxes. If they think Obama will not raise their estate taxes to “spread the wealth” then they are dreaming.
Those farms and land are worth a lot of money and ACORN members want their cut when Farmer Joe dies.
