Got it D 48% R 35% I17%
That is the Kind of Polling the MORON Barone is basing his opinions on
Real Numbers 45 D 33R
NEXT
I'd like to change the premise of this article ever so slightly.
One of the mysteries of this campaign year has been why John McCain keeps campaigning in Wisconsin when the polls show him far behind Barack Obama
One of the mysteries of this campaign year has been why John McCain keeps campaigning in Iowa when the polls show him far behind Barack Obama
One of the mysteries of this campaign year has been why John McCain keeps campaigning in Minnesota when the polls show him far behind Barack Obama
One of the mysteries of this campaign year has been why John McCain keeps campaigning in New Hampshire when the polls show him far behind Barack Obama
So, either McCain really is an idiot as some here think, or perhaps the public polls aren't quite matching up with private polls (not to mention historical voting trends).
then why is he taking SurveyUSA and Quinnipac at face value?
They were the same rabid dog when it came to electing Fast Ed Rendell.
There is a large population of whites in NE Philly and Delaware County who have, uh, “retrograde” views on racial issues who may reduce Obama’s margin of victory in the Philly area.
Jack? Jack Murtha, is that you?!? ;-)
” ...behind Obama 64 percent to 32 percent in the southeast, which includes about 40 percent of the state’s voters. Most of this area is metropolitan Philadelphia,”
reading the full article helps. Barone knows voting numbers practically by precinct all across the country. I can’t think of anyone who has a better handle on that kind of minutae than Baron .. he’s far from an idiot.
And welcome to Free Republc.
Dont see how BHO can give up on PA. He needs those votes as bad as Mac need FL or OH.
Never been to PA so I dont know there electorate but philly from voting history sounds more liberal or corrupt than Los Angeles.
If MaC wants to win PA he has got to minimize the damage in Philly. Losing Philly by 400-450k votes is a deep hole to dig out of.
Really where would he get those Numbers Cochise??
FROM THE INCREDIBLY BIASED COOKED BEYOND ALL RECOGNITION POLLS
In the words of Homer Simpson D’OH !!!!!!!!!!!
And you feel this is a significant difference? I certainly don't.
And no, Barone's not even close to a moron. I'm perplexed by his approach to this election, but that doesn't mean he's misinformed on election returns. I'm not sure there's anyone in America who knows more about this topic.
Really so why can’t he understand the polls are cooked then
In all seriousness, Obama's victory depends on the Pittsburgh area, particularly among elderly voters. Since I expect turnout in Philly to be 120%, all the soiled wife beater wearers in NE Philly probably won't be a factor when faced with such a turnout among the sweat laden du-rag wearers in North and West Philly.
I agree with you. Which is why I expect the street money either is being delivered or is on the way. If the Obamessiah doesn't provide street money to Philly, and then loses PA, that may well go down as his stupidest decision. With all the $$$ he's been throwing around, I would think he would have budgeted for this a long time ago.
Very well stated! My vote is on public polls are garbage!
LEAD ON PENNSYLVANIA!!
The pollsters can be WAY off anytime before the final poll the night before the election...until then they can try to shape the race anyway they want. The problem for the polling companies if they are in the tank for Obama...and they eventually show the truth...that McCain is close or ahead of Obama..is you get a bandwagon trend...you see McCain has made up a lot of ground and therefore you have people willing to vote for him and not waste their vote for a loser (we are talking non-committed voters who have no ideological leanings)....
I sense that come Sunday you are going to see all the battleground states too close to call....but by election day you will see Florida, NC, IN, MO and WV clearly big victories for McCain....then you will see McCain pull off smaller victories in OH, Virginia, PA, CO, NM, NV, MN and one EV in Maine...for 308 Electoral votes for McCain...with 67 million votes for McCain and 63 million votes for Obama.....
Obviously, he would have to make up the difference in other parts of the state, especially Allegheny County and surrounding areas (Pittsburgh), SW and NE PA, and maybe some of the surrounding Philly suburbs. Bush was very competitive in all of these areas four years ago, and McCain is the type of GOPer who can probably do even better, especially with the veterans and other military types. . PA itself was a very closely contested state in both 2000 and 2004.
Again, we have already seen how poorly Obama performed in PA a few months ago. The guy just doesn't connect with many PA voters.
Did any of you people read the article?
Barone is saying that he thinks the PA polls are accurate.
Read through the thread. I've already stated my opinion on that.
Plus, in 2004 Bush did not have McCain’s secret weapon - Jack Murtha!! :-)
