GENEVA, NY--Given the historical nature of Democrat Barack Obama's candidacy as the first Black major party nominee for president, it's hardly surprising that, nationwide, he enjoys overwhelming support from other African-Americans. But is it really front page news when ten African-Americans in a single city claim to support him?
Staff writer Craig Fox and his editors at the Finger Lakes Times seem to think so.
In Sunday's (October 26) front-page article, "Obama gets local black support, some believe senator will bring Americans closer," Fox interviews ten African-Americans who support the Democrat nominee. He also lets each of the people interviewed explain, unchallenged, why they support Obama, why some McCain supporters are "racist" and how American "racism" might stand in the way of the Democrat taking office.
In contrast, a similar article the next day (October 27), by a different Times reporter, on why "many" local veterans are supporting Republican John McCain, included comments from an Obama backer.
According to the City of Geneva's official website, over twelve percent of the city's 13,617 residents are African-American, meaning that there are approxately 1600 blacks residing there. Therefore, it is strange that Fox did not find a single African American to interview that might have supported McCain or even expressed serious reservations about Obama. It is also questionable why he chose to interview only ten people, and represent them as a representative majority of the city's African-American population.
Also, in the print edition of the Sunday paper, the editors endorsed Obama for President, citing among other reasons, his liberal voting record.
Geneva is fast becoming the new Ithaca bump.

And actual people want to vote for the same person as these nutcases for what reason??????
I am convinced that anyone who votes for Hussein is racist. If you’re white and vote for him, you’re voting for him because you feel sorry for Blacks and this is your way of registering it or you’re Black and you’re voting for him because he’s of the same race (even though he’s half white and half Arab decent). This is nothing less than a racist election because the man is otherwise unqualified.
I saw an interview on my local station where the reporter was out in the street (ghetto) and flagged down several black guys. One said “I gotta support Obama, you know what I’m sayin, he a black man, he be knowin what black folks needs. He one of my peoples, I gotta stick wit my peeps, you know what I am sayin?””
He said, PLAIN AS DAY, ON TV, that he was supporting Hussein because Hussein was black and NOBODY on that station so much as mentioned it.
If a white person had said that same statement about McCain, all hell would have broke loose and there is no way they would have aired it.
BLACKS VOTE FOR OBAMA BECAUSE HE’S BLACK ==== OK
WHITES VOTE FOR MCCAIN BECAUSE HE’s WHITE ====RACIST!!!
of course, none of those guys are gonna show up to vote, so its really redundant.
It would be very difficult to find the one or two percent of the black residents who would not vote for Obama. And most certainly, that one maverick would not want his/her name.
Ninety percent of black voters are voting for Obama, but of course ninety percent of black voters vote Democrat regardless.
So at the end of the day, while they may feel some pride that a fellow black man is the candidate, the fact remains that they are voting Democrat the way they always do.
Had the Repubs run Rice, for example, a few black voters might have crossed over but for the most part she is seen as an apostate for being a Repub. Most would not have voted for her.
In other words, it really makes no difference to them who the candidate is, just as long as the candidate has a D behind his or her name. Which is truly pathetic given this party's scurrilous history.
Must be the Fingerlakes WATER ... this type of Stupidity is Spreading!!

Yes, it is nearly impossible to find blacks who plan to vote McCain-Palin. There were just a handful of such supporters at the Palin rally in Carson, CA some weeks ago. They were every bit as enthusiastic as the rest of us but the small number of blacks was startling. I got the distinct impression most of the small group were military/military family members.
One poll had 97% of blacks nationwide voting for Obama. So if so many blacks are voting for Obama just because he’s black then they won’t mind if I vote for McCain just because he’s white, right?
I’m voting for Palin just so’s not to be a sexist.
Blacks are not voting for Obama because he is black, they are voting for Obama because he is a Democrat.
American Conservatism, classic liberalism, will probably never be a mass movement. We make converts one person at a time.
I like your tag line. I’d like to see Petraeus in the mix somewhere, though.
Despite all this propaganda meant to galvanize black support for Obama, the facts are these:
1. Obama is neither “black” nor “white”. He is of mixed race (”mulatto” is the only term I can think of).
2. Obama is not “African-American”, not only echoing #1 above, but also because his black father was from Kenya!
Be that as it may.
Heh. I grabbed Sunday’s Finger Lakes Times with the “Blacks Support Obama” banner headline and handed it to my husband with the comment: The Pope’s Catholic! Neither of us bothered to read the article. Looks like I’ve been exposed to it here.
That paper hasn’t been worth fish wrap since Phil Beckley left.
Obama ain't BLACK!
He is half WHITE!!!
Why does NO one point this out???
