Although the legitimacy of Sen. Barack Obama's birth certificate has become a focus of intense speculation – and even several lawsuits – it has been learned that Hawaii's Gov. Linda Lingle has placed the candidate's birth certificate under seal and instructed the state's Department of Health to make sure no one in the press obtains access to the original document under any circumstances.

If she sealed it, then it would logically follow that a Hawaiian certificate exists....else, it couldn’t be sealed. This issue is a red herring.
I thought so too.....the reason for her sealing the birth certificate is mysterious. Did it really happen?

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES TO FOLLOW WHEN WRITING FOR VITAL RECORDS AND DOCUMENTS
Please remember, following these guidelines can greatly assist you in your search for records!
Make your letters concise and to the point. Do NOT include more than one or two requests at once, and be careful not to write confusing details of your family lines.
Provide complete information on an individual and event for which you need documents. Include all names that may have been used, including nicknames, alternate spellings, etc. List dates and type of event as completely and accurately as possible. If you don't know the exact date, specify the span of years you wish searched and be prepared to pay for searches that span several years.
Patience pays! Unless you already know the # of pages in a deed, or the exact cost of a document, don't send a specific amount of money in cash or a check. It is appropriate to send a signed, BLANK check, however, with a notation written, (preferably in red ink), UNDER the “$__________” line of the check which states, “Not to exceed $5.00”, or any amount you wish to specify. If you don't care to do that, you will need to make your first letter a statement of what records you need and a request for them to send you a statement of charges. You can then send a check for the exact amount in a second letter.
Always provide an S.A.S.E., (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope).
County and State offices have limited personnel and are often swamped with paper work. Genealogical queries are done as a service which is outside of their realm of responsibility. They ask therefore that you exercise patience and courtesy in your transactions with their offices.

sex of person (male or female)
date of birth
place of birth
mother's maiden name
father's name
relationship to party
the reason the record is needed
requestor’s name & address
requestor’s driver's license number & state (some counties require it)
requestor’s signature
When you write for a death record be sure and include following information:
date of request
full name of deceased (last name in caps)
date of birth (necessary in some states)
date of death
place of death
relationship to party

Geez, lighten up. First, she’s sealed it to keep the media from getting ahold of it and doing a huge “SEE SEE SEE. He’s got a valid birth certificate.” Secondly, it looks like Berg’s lawsuit is going to be appealed to the Supreme Court, so Gov. Lingle is making the document that’s on file is locked down. Thirdly, Gov. Lingle introduced Gov. Palin at the Republican Convention. She’s definitely NOT on Obama’s side.
Note: There is a birth certificate in Hawaii for Barack Obama.
Not really, if in Hawaii, it is a privacy issue as it can only be released on court order to a family member or by court order, she may be simply reinforcing the law so that someone doesn't prematurely release it, harming the legal case. She may simply be respecting the law.
The Governor has a “document”, valid or not has yet to be determined. She’s locked it down so there is no tampering (ie. if it could used as evidence).

There is an interesting angle I’ve not thought of before. When children are adopted, it was the practice in the past to seal the original birth certificate (so even the child listed on it couldn’t see it) and generate a new birth certificate listing the adoptive parents. The idea was to protect the identity of the parents that were giving up custody.
So why does Obama’s COLB birth certificate list his father? Since he was adopted, shouldn’t it list his adoptive father (or at least not list his natural father)?
could be that 0bambi ratted a few chains while in Hawaii ...what with his goon squad and all...the Gov got nervous and sealed the records for safety.
We can’t see Obama’s birth certificate in a serious Constitutional matter, but some Dem operative in Ohio can access Joe the Plumber’s tax records in order to punish him for asking a revealing question? We apparently have 1 set of rules for the elites and another for the rest of us Joe’s.

Too bad the Dems don’t want that nor want to require their candidates to do so either.
Why do Americans require less of those holding the power levers than they feel is ok to ask of them when they apply for an ordinary job?

As I understand it, Obama sat on the committee that approved McCain’s elgibility. I’m not sure how to track it down but that’s one of the tidbits I’ve caught along the way.
I thought the birth certificate was automatically sealed at his adoption by the step father when he was four years old. So why does the Gov. have to issue orders today?
