PRINCETON, NJ -- Jewish voters nationwide have grown increasingly comfortable with voting for Barack Obama for president since the Illinois senator secured the Democratic nomination in June. They now favor Obama over John McCain by more than 3 to 1, 74% to 22%.
This is based on monthly averages of Gallup Poll Daily tracking results, including interviews with more than 500 Jewish registered voters each month.
Support for Obama among all registered voters was fairly stable from June through September, but then rose sharply in October -- in apparent reaction to the U.S. economic crisis. By contrast, support for Obama among Jewish voters has expanded more gradually, from the low 60% range in June and July to 66% in August, 69% in September, and 74% today.
The current proportion of U.S. Jews backing Obama is identical to the level of support the Democratic ticket of John Kerry and John Edwards received in the 2004 presidential election (74%). It is only slightly lower than what Al Gore and Joe Lieberman received in 2000 (80%) -- when the first Jewish American appeared on the presidential ticket of a major party.
Recent support for Obama is a bit higher among older Jews than among Jews younger than 55. According to combined Gallup Poll Daily tracking data from Sept. 1 through Oct. 21, an average of 74% of Jews aged 55 and older supported Obama for president across this period, compared with about two-thirds of younger Jews.

I made another offer to another poster.
My parents live in Boca Raton, FL, aka the Buckle of the Bagel Belt. They HATE Sarah Palin and she was the main factor for many of their neighbors choosing to hold their noses and vote for Obama (despite despising him during the primary).
However, only 2% of American voters are Jewish.
What are you talking about? Find me a Jew who felt he or she could reach a rapprochement with Hitler. This sounds like major revisionism.
Since you’re not going to answer, I’ll take my First Amendment and head on down the road to hell. Adios!
Why didn’t the Jews all clear out of Germany when Hitler took over? If somebody took over America and wrote a Mein Kampf about exterminating Jews and I was Jewish, I’d get the hell out of here fast.
And don’t throw that crap about “revisionism” at me. I’m no revisionist - check my prior posts.
Clear out to where, my dear man.
ANYWHERE my man.
They did. Nearly 90% of German Jews left between 1932 and 1939. Those who didn't were predominately elderly folks who refused to leave their homeland. Check the facts.
Unfortunately, most German Jews left for neighboring countries -- Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland and France -- and many were murdered after those countries were conquered during the Second World World.
I never would have thought they'd be more interested in electing a liberal Democrat than in electing an American President who will use American power to protect Israel from its avowed enemies.
Apparently they are liberals first, Jews second. Who'd a thunked it? More interested in preserving the right to mercilessly abort unborn children than in preserving the safety of people of all ages in Israel? Oy vey! אױ גװאַלד oy gvald!
You are being silly. To leave Germany you have to be able to go to another country.
May I suggest you read up on the subject and then we can have an intelligent discussion.
Didn’t know that.
75% of Jews and a slightly higher percentage of blacks. This ain’t news. Any fool coulda toldja.
I’ll also add that there’s no reason to believe that the 10-20% of German Jews who refused to leave Germany didn’t stay because they liked Hitler or felt they could create a “rapprochement.” I think you just made that up. If Hitler came to power in the US, I think you’d find that a lot of good people would rather die than leave their country behind.
I think you are being silly.
Ever read Mein Kampf? Look at what another poster is telling me - 90% of them did.
Maybe YOU are the one with the problem with an intelligent conversation.
unfortunately, most “anywheres” shut their borders to Jews ...
Well, then you got your answer.
Most did leave Germany but were then exterminated when the Nazis took over Europe.
What is your point?
“If Hitler came to power in the US, I think youd find that a lot of good people would rather die than leave their country behind.”
Guess you never read Mein Kampf.
And if a Hitleresque person rose to power in the U.S. with popular support, what the heck do you think you could do to stop him here?
I’d get myself and my family out of here - and the 90% of the Jews you mentioned earlier felt the same way in the 1930’s about Germany.
You can’t argue two sides of the same argument.
Alter Kalter just told me 90% of Jews DID leave Germany in the 1930s to get away from Hitler.
Which is it?
