I think this is an election like no other, so why aren't more people ruling out the idea of McCain pulling off an upset in a couple of blue states?
People weren't wearing John Kerry and Al Gore t-shirts during the last two elections. Their supporters didn't wear Gore or Kerry t-shirts or faint during speeches. Obama is revered in a way that no Presidential Candidate has been.
Any McCain supporter or undecided voter knows it's "uncool" to not be for Obama. He's Elvis. He's the Beatles. Admitting you're not for "cool" Obama would be like admitting you didn't see Star Wars in 1977.
I've also considered this: during the primaries, the polls often overestimated Obama's support or underestimated Hillary's. Think New Hampshire. If they could be so wrong in a contest involving only Democrats, doesn't that mean the polls could be even more inaccurate when a Republican is his opponent? The libs certainly would have accepted a Hillary nomination over a McCain win.
And finally, I think the PUMAS are going to have a huge impact. What about Hillary supporters in Florida and Michigan? Don't many of them feel betrayed that their state was taken out of play during the primaries? Might her supporters in other states feel the same way.
Based on all of this, I don't think anything is a sure thing in this election.
I’m not in the city anymore (thank God) but I know two women who vote on that particular issue and neither are voting Zero.
The city is a lost cause. However, many won’t come out to bother voting since the media is telling them that it’s in the bag...
I’m not saying we’re gonna win NY, but these other states are one hell of a different story. These polls are ridiculous. Obama has NOWHERE NEAR the support that Kerry did.
Their ONLY hope is to convince us that it’s over and that we shouldn’t bother. That’s all they’ve got. If we go out and vote and do what we do, we will win.
In an election, INTENSITY of support means little compared to breadth of support, provided you get out and vote.
One can only pull that lever so hard, after all.

We’re simply outnumbered, no science or strategy needed.
However... I will say that where I live (western Philly suburbs) I do see more McCain signs on people's lawns than Bush signs over the last two elections.

If people in western Pennsylvania have heard about the insults and coal issue... not sure it resonates when you are outspent 5 to 1 or worse.
I live in a mixed political area in Minnesota... slightly more Democratic than Republican but highly volatile. In 2004 there were Kerry signs everywhere. In 2006 there were signs for our idiot Senator, Amy Klobuchar. This year there are very few signs at all, except for local races, and there are 2 McCain signs for every 3 BO signs.
Something is up. I don’t trust any of the polls that have this more than a 3 to 5 percent race.
I heard GOP Pacs are about to throw the kichen sink at Obama.

2. Does the average voter know that Murtha has called them ignorant racists?

Yes, because the media pollsters are polling Dems by huge margins over Repubs, and not to be overlooked polls depend on volunteer participants. The willing overly participate while the people who hang ups are 35% higher than in 2004. Usually, 40 to 50% hang up on polling companies, but in this election, close to 80% self censor themselves from the pollsters.
Yes, FNC anchors are going out of their way to prove they are “Fair and Balanced”.
For example, today they were talking about Biden’s interview in Florida, and that the Obama campaign will no longer give that TV station any further interviews.
Whenever they reported this, they then would say that the McCain campaign kicked a NY Times reporter off the “Straight Talk Express”. It was so obvious what they were doing....
Don't know - I'm in southeastern PA. This state is very large and very different depending on where you are.
But - I suspect many of those voting for Baraq Hussein 0bama think (1) coal is evil and (2) agrees that everyone is racist (except themselves of course).
I stopped watching Fox News 2 weeks ago. They crossed a line in my mind and I can’t stand it. OK, that’s not entirely true. I watch Greta some. Even Hannity is too hard to watch with skeletor there with him.

Seriously. I was having a couple beers this Thursday night in Cambridge, MA an Obama stronghold. I tried talking politics with another guy at the bar and he practically tore my head off. These are not rational people, you cant have a conversation with them. Pray for McCain / Palin
I not only think he can but I also think he will.
Let’s not forget Northeast PA. While the coal industry was most active up until the late 50’s, there are still untold reserves of coal still waiting to be mined. And while Western PA has soft coal, Northeast PA has hard Anthracite coal, which is a much more efficient source of energy. And to think that Biden mouthed off in Ohio that we wouldn’t be burning coal in the US with an Obama administration; Biden is FROM this region, and even lied by saying he was a “hard-coal miner, anthracite coal, Scranton, Pa.” Of course, having left the region at age 10, that in itself proves that he lied.
Add to that the fact that Scranton is Hillary Country, and there are a fair amount of voters that are pi$$ed that she didn’t get the nomination, and you have the potential recipe for the 2 “blue” counties (Luzerne and Lackawanna) to become “red”. Potentially, that could very well be the votes McCain needs to win PA.
Here’s an interesting stat. I went to google and typed in the words “media” and “bias” and the top two suggestions were:
-media bias for Obama
-media biased for Obama.
