I guarantee you, I'll win: McCain

US Republican presidential nominee John McCain says he can guarantee a win in next week's election, but says the result will be very close.

Senator McCain, who has been trailing Democratic rival Barack Obama by more than 10 points in some national and state polls, said his campaign was "doing fine" with the polls nine days away.

"Those polls have consistently shown me much farther behind then we actually are," he said. "We're doing fine.

"We've closed in the last week and if we continue this close in the next week you're going to be up very late on election night.

"I guarantee you that two weeks from now you'll see that this has been a very close race and I guarantee you I'm going to win it."

"We are very competitive in those areas [key states] and we're going to have to just get out our vote and work very hard over the next nine days."

Later Senator McCain addressed a rally at the University of North Iowa on a swing through the midwestern state where Senator Obama enjoys a near 12-point lead according to an average on realclearpolitics.com.

As he is expected to do throughout the remainder of the campaign, Senator McCain relentlessly rammed home his contention that Senator Obama is a closet socialist hellbent on raising taxes on ordinary Americans.

The 72-year-old former Navy pilot also struck a defiant stance as he told supporters he relished the election fight.

"I'm not afraid of the fight - I'm ready for it," he stated.

He also repeated his claim - angrily denied by the Obama camp - that the Democratic nominee had already begun drafting his inauguration speech.

"What America needs now is someone who'll finish the race before starting the victory lap....'

He needs to convince voters that a Obama/Reid/Pelosi combination is horrible for America.

I agree.

Here's a sample on a thread about the interview with Biden and West:

"That Barbara West woman is scary. She had a stern face with cold-blooded, emotionless eyes throughout the interview with no warmth or emotion. I wouldn't be surprised if her forefathers were involved in cold-blooded murders etc. to further their bigotry."

Truly deranged people

what was that river where they keep finding Nixon ballot boxes to this day?

The River of Not Starting Sentences with a Capital Letter.

It's an amazing body of water and many illiterates have drowned there.

Why would you use RCP? It’s garbage in garbage out.

If Obama loses Pennsylvania it’s all over.

Under this model, as it stands today, the electoral numbers would be 296-232 in favor of Obama

Broken down as follows:

Florida- McCain by 1.8
Indiana- M by 3.5
Missouri- M by 3
North Carolina- M by 3
Nevada- M by .7
Colorado- Obama by 2.5
Ohio- O by 2.1
Virginia- O by 3
Pennsylvania- O by 7.2
New Mexico- O by 4.4
Iowa- O by 7.8
Michigan- O by 13
Minnesota- O by 7.3
Wisconsin- O by 6.6

Again though, that is using RCP’s averages and only god knows how accurate some of the polls they are looking at really are

If McCain wants to guarantee a win, he has to attack Obama on Wright, James Cones and Black Liberation Theology. If it was ok to attack on Ayers, the same should apply for Wright and Black Liberation Theology.

The only reason I use RCP is because I have no idea what polls to trust any more and I figure it must count in at least some accurate polls even if it they are exceeded by an even higher number of inaccurate ones... which polls are you using? finding it really hard to find a good pollster this year.

“If McCain wins I will be on my knees thanking God for saving this country. If he loses I will be on my knees asking God to save this country.”

He’s better than Obama, but I wouldn’t go as far as saying the country will be saved with McCain in the White House.

Dodged an immediate bullet? Yes.

Saved the country? Hardly.

I like Brit Hume’s analysis . . . usually. But even he seems to have given up. I know he is retiring, but this was depressing . . .

Saved from Obama. This country needs to do a lot more than elect McCain to get back into God’s grace.

After the Biden interview, some elite Republican calling Palin a Diva is probably minuscule compared to what is going on behind the scenes on the Democrat side

I know that's really nothing. Biden is a walking train wreck. It is just frustrating that the conservative commentators seem to have completely given up. They are not even questioning the premise that the election is over. That's malpractice at best.

LOL...in a BIG way. Some of the other posters were bragging how Biden "slapped" her down.

I don't go there too often but I don't know whether to laugh or cry. It's truly sad that they have been indoctrinated and had their lives poisoned like they have.

Not to mention become an enemy of and endanger their own Countries existence.
