Walter Reed October 17, 2008, Week 183, Plumbers Support The Troops, Late Buses
Brisk weather has arrived in Washington at last! Gloves and jackets were broken out. A very enthusiastic evening.
A sign posted by plumbers union #007 was an unexpected conversation piece. The plumbers who posted it, didnt stay, but left their plungers. Several moonbats quietly lingered down the block. They kept their distance.
We spoke with several wounded warriors during the evening. One of the wounded warriors, Bob, from Wisconsin, had spent two tours in Afghanistan with the 173rd. He has one more operation to go and is in good spirits.
The bus was very late arriving at 11pm, but was greeted by stalwart FReepers who remained on station to welcome two buses filled with wounded warriors and their families. A big hooahhh to Mr and Ms Trooprally, BufordP, Lurker Bill, VictoryNY and Rongkirby who remained to greet the wounded warriors.
The reason for the late arrival was that this is the fifth anniversary of the Friday Night Dinners for the wounded and families from Walter Reed and the Naval Medical Center.
On this night Hal Koster, Head of the Aleetha Foundation, which funds the events, invited graduate wounded warriors to return and meet some of the more recently wounded warriors.
We salute Hal Koster, the Aleetha Foundation, and the restaurants who have faithfully served the Friday Night dinners to our heroes.

Bump for reading at home - can’t see the pictures in the office.
donno!
Depends whether L or M asks him.
lol
My parents live in a retirement center in Baltimore (Catonsville) Maryland and once a month a busload goes to BWI/Thurgood Marshall Airport to welcome home the troops. The average age of the group is 85 years and they are the WWII era veterans and spouses and friends. They wear Red, White and Blue to show their pride in Country and for the Troops. They’re overwhelmingly Republicans or Conservatives.
Me neither, I can’t view the picture at all!
That is OUTSTANDING!
Real good reading before heading back to Walter Reed in an hour. Thanks.
[Mr] T
God bless your parents and their group.
When I see the troops welcomed at BWI on TV I get a lump in my throat.
There is a lot of this support, it just doesn’t get reported.
Free Republic is a good vehicle in that we can get our activism efforts out across the country.

Suggest you open your eyes and you WILL be able to see, not view, the picture.
See you tonight?
:-)
Thanks for doing this report....I love reading them.
Handsome jacket buddy!
I was so pleased to see you in it, almost “felt” like being there!
Awesome report and terrific pictures! God bless you guys and keep up the good work!
Thanks to you! It’ll become a regular feature now that it’s getting cooler.
