Jay-Z clearly appreciated AM's presence, calling on the audience to "make some noise for DJ AM" three separate times throughout the concert. Jay also gave a shout-out to Barker and the people who died in the crash, saying, "We're gonna party it up for them tonight."
But not all the shout-outs were so celebratory. Without naming names, Jay dedicated "99 Problems" to John McCain and a certain "homegirl," whom he described as "the one who says 'You betcha.' "
"I'm gonna get in trouble for this," Jay laughed onstage, "but f--- it, this is freedom of speech."
Not by Jay-Z, who obviously doesn't see the irony endorsing a man who would only encouraging subsidizing the 'hood rather than giving them incentives to perform and excel, but by the comments.
This is MTV; the first dozen or so comments I saw were very pro-McCain (or, at least, anti-O)
Not wanting to grasp at straws here, but I can't imagine the people who comment on MTVNews forums being that savvy
Best comment of course: ms2big (10.16.08 | 11:16 PM)
YUP GO DO UR THANG AND EVRYBODY NEED TO GO OUT TO VOTE POR BARACK OBAMA NOV.4TH 2008 GO VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA NOT SUCK BOOTY MCCAIN.....
I think that Al Gore wrote that one. Remember him? The guy who tried to kill a number of musicians' careers and the music retailers that sold their albums? And then he got blown by Rolling Stoned with an airbrushed cover of his enhanced "package" and he suddenly believed his own bullstalin that he was "hip"?
Yep. I think that comment was posted by Al Gore the Loser.
this is freedom of speech.
hope you enjoy it because I don’t think we will under an Obama administration.
Who really gives a crap what the alphabet named thugs do or say? Way too much has been made of the celebrity and music biz opinions, such that they are.
The people who listen to them make noise, not Presidents.
Same applies to the “throngs” of African Americans. If they get half of what they say they got, I’ll be extremely surprised.
Right... it was freedom of speech
The point is that people posting anti-Obama opinions on MTVNews is an excellent sign the 18-24 y/o demographic isn’t as brainwashed as we thought
I know the MSM shoves the youth vote for O/B down our throats, but I don’t see the generation that’s become so over-saturated with marketing that they can pierce 90% of the veil actually falling for the One
Obama and Jay-Z two no talent rap artists
on the other hand, maybe it’s because they think Palin is really really hot. :)
Absolutely

I couldn’t disagree more.
Barack Obama is the friend of the poor. He and the democrats are all for helping the marginilised and the disadvantaged. Unlike the rubbish republicans, democrats CARE. They know that the best way to help is to empower the people.
Yep, with BO in power, the poor and the “minorities” will be helping themselves for years. In fact, if he has his way, for the rest of their lives.
Come on admit it, you were getting antsy up until the last two sentences :)
You caught me.
BOOTY SUCK MCAIN/Palin ‘08
That’s a very mature attitude by Brad (although perhaps he shouldn’t have put it in such salty terms).
Actors are citizens, they have as much right to their opinions as anyone else, but unless they also happen to have doctorates in politics or economics or whatever, (in other words, unless they have some kind of acknowledged expertise) those opinions carry no more weight than anyone elses. The mere fact that they possess “fame” is a very bad basis to accept what they are saying is true.
I was reaching for my Troll Spray..
I must live a sheltered life because I have no idea what a “Jay-Z” is.
The Democrats are no friend of the poor because they turn people into dependent parasites. They are no friend of the rich because they punish the will to succeed with taxation and regulation.
What’s a Jay Z?
The youth vote is stunning despite the asterisk. It says that nearly 3/4 of the youth support MCCAIN and not Obama.
More importantly, though, McCain is losing the middle-aged vote. That surprises me. What is it about the 40 to 60 year old group that makes them gravitate to Obama? I’m in that group, and there’s no way that I go with Obama.
McCain is losing the boomers, and it doesn’t make sense. I’d expect him to be a hero to them.
My guess is that too many of them are getting their information from the Left Stream Media.
How do you break them from the LSM in the next week? Or, how do you reach that age group in the next week?
Its a very dangerous theory. The poor are always with us. There are some, no matter how you structure society, who will always sink to the bottom, either because they are lazy, or indolent, or just plain goddam unlucky. And if you have any human decency your heart bleeds for them (especially the last lot).
So when liberals simply advocate giving them money and housing and “relieving” their poverty, it sounds very good and gets lots of support (especially from the poor themselves, of course). What they dont realise is that although this works for a while, and certainly salves their consciences, in the long term it creates an ever increasing demand for more and more “rights”, which are not in any way balanced with “responsibilities”. The country needs both.
Just and wise societies work towards equality of opportunity, not equality of outcomes.
