At the risk of being seen as “not helping” John McCain and “giving up,” allow me to take you on a little tour of the electoral battlefield today.
If there are any sharp objects within reach, I suggest you move them. Better yet, put them under lock and key. I am about to crack open the gates of hell and give you a peek at what’s inside.
As “The Dead March from Saul” plays on my headphones, I am forced to report that John McCain is approaching “Dead Parrot” status in the race for the presidency. The campaign is trying to convince us that John McCain is actually alive and still breathing while all other signs point to him being an ex-presidential candidate.
Don’t trust the polls? I wouldn’t either. In fact, a good case can be made that almost all the polls are undercounting Obama’s support and the Illinois senator is even further ahead than the polls indicate. (Read this piece by conservative political guru Michael Barone on polls.) This is because there seems to be a truly remarkable and historic dynamic at work in America. Early voting in states like NC, FL, and Ohio have shown extraordinary turnout among African Americans and the young, voting for Obama by huge margins (Pew has this early voting 58-34 for Obama while Zogby gives Obama a 21 point lead nationwide among early voters.)

A lot of these Palin-bashers are the same folk who favored the ol’ Maverick in the first place. Now that he’s our nominee, they are bailing as fast as they can. What a bunch of jerks!
The Democrat base nominates far-left candidates. Why is it the RINOs (who got their guy, McCain) freak out when we get someone, Palin, who fits our ideals?
After all, RINOs are already WELL represented in the Republican Party. We are supposed to sacrifice our principles to support their causes, but they bail on us when it comes to giving us something we think is important?
Once this election is over, we need to go to war against these RINOs. Conservatives make up the greatest part of the Republican Party, and it’s time we start getting some of the things we want!

I met him back in the ‘80s and this was my take when I heard he was running Obama’s campaign. Very liberal, not ready for prime time.
If Obama wins it will be because McCain hasn’t put into simple terms the dem’s role in the Financial meltdown, Obama’s “share the wealth” policies affect on this country’s economy and the need to drill for our own oil.
Meaningless crap! Pew and Zogby and the most biased of any polling groups. Plus it has been well established that the DNC/Obama strategy was to get a big early vote so as to try to depress GOP turnout. NOT FALLING FOR IT!

Actually, I did. $50. I enjoy Free Republic. Used to lurk around over at Red State, but there’s much more traffic over here, so I like it better. Also, I like its simplistic design. It’s a lot faster than other blogs.

Well, keep in mind that nerves are a little frayed. Before I post anything negative (and I post plenty that's negative these days), I ask myself "is this something that hasn't been brought to light before?" As many have already pointed out, we've heard the same story Moran is spinning form a dozen sources the last couple of weeks. With that weight of opinion behind it, it probably reflects some grim reality, but really, is there any value in repeating it?
I think the response would be less hostile if there was anything fresh or insightful in Moran's essay — even if it was negative.
