Black Dog Republicans by Jed Babbin
10/23/2008 Print This
Weve always had Yellow Dog Democrats from the South and some of Pelosi's puppies say they're Blue Dog Democrats. But now we have Black Dog Republicans.
Their constant companions are depression and melancholy, the moods that often descended on Winston Churchill. He labeled them his black dog.
There are two reasons the Black Dog Republicans fell prey to a depression equal to Churchill's. First is the constant chatter of the media, the Republican elite, and the Cassandra Republicans who are just as sure that John McCain will lose the election as they are that Sarah Palin is his ruination. The second is that a lot of people are simply so angry at the Bush administration that otherwise sensible people are transferring their anger to John McCain or falling for Baracks baloney.
Can we all please stop whining?
To paraphrase our greatest secretary of war, you go to the polls with the candidates you have, not necessarily the candidates you want. And, though this is heresy in Washington, lets please remember that neither pundits nor pollsters elect presidents: voters do. John McCain and Sarah Palin could yet win on November 4.

Black dog my butt. Remember the saying “Pick yourself up by the boot straps and go on.”? Republicans need to stand tall and getter done.
Looking around at the situation, trying to lay blame on others, and then feeling sad, bad, and mad... that is for the Left.
We are the people who work and change things. God forbid, this election doesn't go our way and we have 4 years of an inexperienced socialist and the many with the worst hair plugs and biggest ego in politics.
We survived Jimmy Carter, the worst President of the USA ever. We can survive this lying, Chicago style thugocracy.
More like “Scared Weasel” Republicans.
Jimmy Carter believed that the loser of an election accepts the results of the people. This bunch do not.
Expect the election to be called for 0bama EARLY and OFTEN.
Ignore it and go vote.
“Expect the election to be called for 0bama EARLY and OFTEN.
Ignore it and go vote.”
As i think back to 2000, the election was not over even on election day, so every republican, puma, independent and person of faith caring about this country’s future had better get out and vote no matter what the msm says about the election. imho, the more often they call the election for obama, the more likely it is actually close.
everyone needs to vote.
I’d stop the election for 30 days, give Obama 30 days to produce the BC or he’s out. Simple, clean and concise.
And they will, if the voters stop listening to the carp from the RINOS and disaffected conservative pundits.
Cassandra is a prophet cursed by Zeus so that no one would pay attention to her even though everything she predicts came true.
Which just makes this a BAD, BAD, BAD description of the people Babbin is trying to describe.
However, I can not think of a mythological figure that is the opposite of Cassandra of the top of my head.
Your welcome. Glad to be of service. :)
“Which just makes this a BAD, BAD, BAD description of the people Babbin is trying to describe.”
Yes, you are right, of course. But I think a lot of folks forget that part about Cassandra, and just invoke her as a voice of doom & gloom.
BTW, it was Apollo. My bad. :P
