Poll Confirms: Murtha in Trouble

And What Democrat Has Done More to Merit Defeat?

Hot off the presses:

Democratic Rep. John Murtha leads retired Army Lt. Col. William Russell by a little more than 4 percentage points, within the Susquehanna Poll's 4.9-point margin of error. The poll of 400 likely voters was conducted for the Tribune-Review on Tuesday, amid uproar over Murtha's statement that some of his constituents are racist...

About 54 percent of voters among those polled say it's time for someone else to represent them in Congress. About 35 percent say Murtha deserves to be re-elected.

"The most important variable here is that a decisive majority say it's time for a new person," said Jim Lee, president of Susquehanna Polling and Research. He attributed some of the unhappiness with Murtha to the congressman's recent comments.

It's tough to know how big a factor that is, though, because little attention had been paid to the race, Lee said. Political analysts didn't expect Murtha to be vulnerable.

Murtha's last few challengers didn't come close to toppling him. He won by more than 20 percentage points in 2006 against Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey. He was unopposed in 2004.

This year, according to the poll, it's different.

"This is clearly a winnable race for Russell," Lee said.

I'm disappointed that the article doesn't provide details on the poll, but a re-elect number of 35 percent means that Murtha right now is a dead man walking. You can be sure that the DCCC is about to rush money to western Pennsylvania to help a man who holds our armed services in contempt, thinks his constituents are racist, and who disgraced his office as far back as his involvement in Abscam. Help Lieutenant Colonel Russell retire Murtha by donating here.

This election is nowhere near what the media has been selling folks, they are engaging in a Goebbelesque propoganda campaign designed to supress republican/mccain turnout. They know that a motivated republican base means Fauxbama cannot win, pure and simple and are doing EVERYTHING in their power to supress that vote.

Stop buying into what they are selling, they are selling a pack of lies. Stay fired up, excited, GOTV and make sure your friends and neighbors do to. This one is in the bag folks as long as we do this.

Hope they take out the trash.

We're all sick of listening to his gaseous emissions.

This would not be the first election where the GOP snatches defeat from the jaws of victory at the last minute...........

If Murtha gets re-elected, Penn has some of the most blind voters in the nation. No offense meant to my fellow FReepers in Penn. Vote him out!

Related to LardAss Murtha:

People keep saying that Sarah Palin - forgive me, Governor Sarah Palin - is not ready to be one step away from the Presidency, should something happen to Senator McCain.

Given her performance of the last two years, could any sane person argue that Nancy Pelosi is ready to be President, should something happen to “That One” and Joe Six-Plugs?

Thank goodness nothing happened to President Bush and Vice President Cheney since the Treasoncrats took over both houses in January of last year...or this (not gonna say it, not gonna go there) would be president.

That alone, is reason enough for me to vote straight Republican, to see that people like “That One”, “Plugs”, “Her Thighness”, “Dingy Harry”, “Nostrilamus” Waxman, Maxine Waters, David “You Must” Obey, and of course, the haughty John Kerry (who served in Vietnam...so I’m told) never occupy the seats of power again.

Final note in my pre-coffee stream of consciousness: I read a blurb that House leaders are having a hearing on what caused the recent financial mess. I hope that the Republicans use one specific prop, directed at the Democrats in the hearing:

MIRRORS!

Truly amazing how folks like Murtha, Franks, Biden, Rangel, etc. keep getting reelected.

I sure hope the PA voters remove this blob of wasted molecules from office and vote for somebody who CARES about America and our military. He’s a disgrace to a uniform, just like Jimmy Carter.

Murtha may win. He has too many locals in his back pocket. But, he has certainly helped John McCain in Southwest PA.

It’s beyond my ability to comprehend how Murtha can have a 4 point lead after all he’s done.

It's the power of incumbency. He'll call in the chips on all the favors owed him by people he has "helped" during the years even if by "hook and crook".
