...Governor, let me ask you about immigration. How many undocumented immigrants are there in Alaska?
I don't know, I don't know. That's a good question.
As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported?
There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant -there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants- not only economically is that just an impossibility but that's not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.
Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants?
No, I do not. I do not. Not total amnesty. You know, people have got to follow the rules. They've got to follow the bar, and we have got to make sure that there is equal opportunity and those who are here legally should be first in line for services being provided and those opportunities that this great country provides.
To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.
And the last question would be about politics. You only have two more weeks left...
Yes
What is your strategy? How are you planning to win the latino vote?
I will tell you, I wish that there were more hours in the day so that we can get out there and to more of the communities with such the strong Latino vote that is out there and really tell them that we desire to work for them. We are asking them to hire us and let us work for them.
Thank you so much. It would be impossible to ask you to say a few words in Spanish, right?
Oh my good-well, I don't want to embarrass myself, but
but gracias and I do thank you so much for this opportunity. I appreciate it.
Thank you, muchas gracias, thank you.

OK freepers, everyone get in line behind Sarah.

Oh well, there was some clown arguing that this lady was more conservative than Duncan Hunter. Sounds like Sara Palino is alot like Juan MaCano.

Now let’s all vote for Bob Barr to ensure that Senor Obama and his merry thugs ride roughshod over America. Give me a break! FIrst get McCain elected and as Rush says we’ll deal with him later.

Geez. What is it with otherwise intelligent people. Surely someone should have mentioned to her by now that you get more of what you reward, and granting any kind of amnesty to people who have broken our laws is rewarding them for that behavior — and will result in more of it.

I’ve been waiting for this. If she said anything else, McCain would stroke out. She knows a lot of things. I doubt the problem of immigration is one of them.
What does it all matter anyway. The media picks our candidates, they’ll do her in. At this point it’s all just a sideshow for me.

People relax. You don't fight wars with your Commander during the war. McCain is not a perfect Canadidate. Most probably know that the next 4 years will be a fight with McCain but there is absolutely no reason to blow up at this. Immigration has not played a role in this election so a flip flop will not be an issue. She has to say what she has to say for now just win the election. Are Conservatives so easily divided. If so then McCain is in more trouble than anyone ever thought. Man your ships and fight. The battle with President McCain starts November 5th...Not a moment sooner!!

I am saying don't throw the election because she repeated McCain's position. President McCain can be influenced President Obama cannot be. She is not lying but she is sticking to the McCain platform on this issue. You will not get them to change their minds between now and election day (nor should they). As I said, the battle with President McCain starts November 5th. Not a moment sooner
To: TADSLOS
What is your strategy? How are you planning to win the latino vote? Too bad she didn't invoke her Palin charm and ask "Are you referring to Latino citizens who were born and raised in the U.S., or immigrants who took the time and effort to establish their citizenship, or are you talking about non-citizens who were registered with ACORN?"
