Congressman Tim Mahoneys reelection efforts have been destroyed by his recently revealed sex scandal, according to the latest polling information on the race for Floridas 16th District.
The Tarrance Group, a national Republican polling firm, which is the only company to have sampled voters in the race, swung the race to Republican candidate Tom Rooney, showing the Tequesta Republican had 55 percent of the vote, with Mahoney picking up 29 percent.
The poll, conducted Oct. 15 and 16, days after ABC News revealed that Mahoney had paid a former campaign staffer $121,000 to prevent a sexual harassment lawsuit, also listed 16 percent of the voters as undecided.
Sex scandals are usually a Democrat ENHANCEMENT!
Not only are the voters dumping him, his wife filed for divorce yesterday.
I saw that on the news. I hope she takes him for everything he’s got. She’ll deserve it. She’s a very petite woman................
Just watch the RATS demand to replace Mahoney.
This is a Republican seat. The area has a conservative majority, and if not for the scandal surrounding former Congressman Mark Foley, this seat would have remained safe and secure for the GOP.
Interestingly enough, Foley was a d-Rat who switched to the GOP shortly before he announced for the seat. And Mahoney was a lifelong republican switching to the d-Rats in order to contest for Foley’s seat. How ironic that both of these scandal plagued dolts had switched parties for political expediency.
There are a few other seats the Republicans could pick up. Kanjorski in PA. Perhaps Murtha in PA after he declared his constituents were racist. Shea Porter looked like she was having some troubles in NH-01, but the latest polling shows her probably pulling through. Then there’s Delay’s old seat...
this scandal is barely a whisper on FNC and no mention in CNN or MSNBC.
Rush should mention this as an example of the bankruptcy of the democrat party.
PELOSI KNEW ABOUT THIS SCANDAL TWO YEARS AGO!
Little has nothing to do with it. Even if she was as big as a Russian body builder, she should take him to the cleaners. I just mentioned the fact that she was petite because I saw them on a video on the news and he literally towers over her. By the way he spoke to his mistress on that recorded phone call, I’d think it a safe bet that he intimidates her or worse. I hope she ruins the bastard...................
How long has this scumbag been in the House?...........
If Republicans can gain even a small handful of seats then it helps offset the expected Demo gains. With luck the GOP will do better in 2010.
Besides the pick up opportunities in this FL race, plus PA and TX, it sounds like the Demo in northern AL put his foot in his mouth recently so that could be a gain. How about Rep Boyda in KS? The Repubs had targeted her. Those “moderate” Dems who squeaked through in GA last time ought to be beatable.
I was just messing with ya!
Mahoney was having the affair DURING THE FOLEY SCANDAL.
Rham Emmanuel AND Nancy Pelosi confronted him about this DURING THE FOLEY SCANDAL.
Remember the newpapers kept quiet about foley in order to preserve their access to the congressman. (miami herald) There is no reason to not think they did this again with the sex scandal of another congressman.
Pelosi and Emmanuel covered this up in order to protect their majority.
NOW THE MEDIA IS COMPLICIT IN COVERING THIS UP TOO!
“Sex scandals are usually a Democrat ENHANCEMENT!” LOL, isn’t that the truth! This was posted on a local blog by a liberal, gay rights “activist”:
“I have to admit I hold Democrats to a lower ethical sexual standard than Republicans—but then, we usually don’t make much of an issue of consensual sex between adults as long as you haven’t attempted to criminalize it or force it back into the closet.”
how about nobody has the right to destroy anyone?
divorce in an of itself is destructive enough.
but then again I may be a romantic.
Yup, the Toricelli precedent. Recollect that one: He was under a cloud of indictments and couldn't win so he announced he would be dropping out and even though the constitution says he can't be replaced on the ballot that close to the election the Supreme Court of NJ determines the voters deserve a choice so they allow removing him from the ballot. Watch for it in this case.
“How about nobody has the right to destroy anyone?”
He destroyed himself.
self inflicted moral wounds do not count on the hypocritical for purposes of social policy.
