Glad that McClintock agrees with me on 11.

On balance I think it does more good than harm, but it’s a very mixed bag

The use of this kind of stupid logic employed by politicians is how we end up with so much bad legislation fouling up all our lives.

Mixed bag is right. I couldn’t vote for that as it reads.

Does it look like it’s gonna pass?

Prop 11 IS a no brainer.

It is a start toward a representative government. CA is unusual in having a government that hardly qualifies as a representative democracy. It is absurd that this has been allowed to happen.

The prop. has been written to be non-partisan, which is why is reads a bit oddly. However, there is little that CA has to lose over the terrible situation we are in now. We need more practical politicos in Sacto, who care about those in their districts.

I am sick of meeting with representatives who don’t care about the views of those in their districts. Currently, they answer to interest groups and party radicals; that’s all.

Vote YES on Prop. 11.

This is but another law in California that will just drive the cost up or push production out of state--or out of country.

I totally agree with your reason.

I also agree with McClintock except for 2 and 6.

Thanks for posting. I had checked his web site just a couple days ago to see what he had to say. It turns out that I only disagree on one proposition.

I feel that measure #6 is irresponsible in that it locks in spending. One of the biggest errors in California in recent years was the passage of the measure locking in spending on education. It has ham strung the budget making process during a time when revenue has been down and all spending should have been facing reductions.

I agree. And for 1/2 billion a year of new taxpayer expense, I think they can go back to the drawing board and get it right.

On the surface prop. 2 sounds innocent enough but thinking about it it is just another step in creeping socialism.

There are plenty of places where you can buy food that comes from animals that were treated humanely. Every grocery store has free range eggs, milk, meats etc.

Let the free market push the other food producers into being more humane, not the govermnent.

I voted no on this (absentee)last week.

Prop 11 representative government? How is the panel selected? Oh, yeah... they pull a few names out of the hat and then select their friends to fill in the rest of the seats. How does one get one’s name in the hat? Well, they’re chosen by the State Auditor and a couple of other auditors. Who is the State Auditor? Well that’s the person appointed by the Governor. I’m sure Governor Villaraigosa will give the responsibility to a fine compadre. /s

Seriously—this seems as far away from Representative Government as you can get!

rivercat and Ugot2Bkidding,

Prop. 2:

If this proposition passes, who will enforce it? Does this mean animal control or law enforcement can enter your home/property without cause if someone complains, or if there is suspicion?

glock_fan,

“On the surface prop. 2 sounds innocent enough but thinking about it it is just another step in creeping socialism.”

Precisely.

You will notice that the language used is to emotionally manipulate the voter. Who wants to deprive animals of humane treatment? No law abiding citizen. This plays on peoples affections towards animals.

We once had a neighbor down the street whom wanted to rent a house just for the stray cats she collected. Her neighbor (a good friend of ours) had rabbits, a dog, and chickens. Often times, when the dog was outside, it would corner the chickens and take their eggs. The Cat Woman usually called the house and frantically protested, “The dog is KILLING the chickens!!” You couldn’t find a dog gone(pun intended) feather let alone drumsticks scattered all over the lawn.

Now, under this prop., will that call warrant an arrest or citation?

Law abiding American’s shouldn’t have the government overseeing their conduct when it comes to our animals, or anything else for that matter.

They should concern themselves with trying to balance the state/federal budget.
