Chevy Chase: Big Mistake to Let Sarah Palin on SNL
NewsBusters ^ | October 20, 2008 | P.J. Gladnick

Chevy Chase, who has had a distinctly unfunny disposition for years, is so aggravated by Sarah Palin that he claims it was a big mistake to let her on Saturday Night Live. Chase, who also claims the biggest mistake of his life was leaving SNL after only a little over a year there, let his feelings be known in Access Hollywood:

NEW YORK, New York --

As a former cast member and “Weekend Update” anchor, Chevy Chase knows something about “Saturday Night Live” – and he wasn’t impressed by what he saw this Saturday night, when Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin made a much-hyped appearance.

“Quite frankly, it’s a big mistake to let her go on,” Chevy told Access Hollywood at the Give Food a Chance benefit in New York. “What was brilliant about [‘SNL’ chief] Lorne [Michaels] was that he had nothing written for Sarah and that apparently she cannot improvise herself out of a paper bag!”

And we remember just how (un)funny your Chevy Chase Show was since it was cancelled after just a month on the air.

“On ‘Weekend Update,’ that was her big chance,” he said. “Nothing.”

But Chevy was critical not only of Sarah’s comedic chops, but of the political campaign of her running mate, Sen. John McCain.

“I’m sure she’s very bright,” he added. “But so is the Butterworth woman.”

Maybe he needs a Vacation?

He finally realized that NOBODY actually liked him.

And the result is, as 2dogjoe so ably put it:

What a bitter and arrogant ass.

Chev’s still reeling from the brutal butt-whipping he received on the Comedy Channel’s roast. They savaged him and he never saw it coming.

He finally realized that NOBODY actually liked him.

I've seen that and it was savage. I'll bet Chevy stayed in doing pills for a month after that night.

It’s sad that a great comedian who helped our family year after year celebrate Christmas while watching “Christmas Vacation” has become a vile, repulsive example of a human being that found success and then became the degenerate entity that fallen man represents. I am saddened that he will without a doubt spend an eternity in hell.

The entire Saturday Night Live ensemble cast was liberal to a T from the late 70’s. Al Franken was their #1 writer! That gives me the chills.

“But so is the Butterworth woman.”

So, he doesn't like Michelle either? (With the emphasis on Butt.)

That settles it, the SNL appearance was a great idea. Chevy wanted them to “decimate that woman”. She was funny, cool and dignified all at the same time. Chevy hasn’t been funny since the late 70s, and for the first time in 30 years I’m laughing at him!

Chevy speaks the truth. Sarah Palin got pwned by SNL.

Welcome to the NFL, Sarah.

The whole skit was scripted. WTF is Chase talking about? He knows better.

“Do like I do...continue to enjoy Caddyshack and Vacation and pretend that Chevy Chase died in the mid 80’s.”

He certainly DID...someone just forgot to tell him!

Never was, is not, and never will be funny.

The ramblings of a sad little man pining for what never was.

“On ‘Weekend Update,’ that was her big chance,” he said. “Nothing.”

Her big chance will be Nov. 4th when she will be our new Vice President. A lot more respectable than some crappy acting job on a long dead program.

All I can say is Chevy Chase's career has been erratic at best.

He still han't gotten over for being passed over in the supporting role of "Bernie" in the movie "Weekend at Bernies".

When they need somebody to fall on his ass for a laugh, they call Chevy.
