WASHINGTON, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In the four years since the federal assault weapons ban expired on September 15, 2004, at least 163 people have been killed and 185 wounded with military-style semiautomatic assault weapons, including at least 38 police officers killed or wounded, according to a report being issued today by the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence.

Restrictions on assault weapons, which drew support from Presidents Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush, have been addressed by both major candidates for President: "Senator Barack Obama has stated as recently as his convention acceptance speech that it is imperative that criminals be denied the use of assault weapons," the report says. "Senator John McCain, who has opposed the NRA on gun shows and other issues, has been firm in his opposition to an assault weapon ban."

The report outlines how the availability of assault weapons has altered the balance of power on urban streets between police and criminals, endangering police officers and causing a growing number of police departments to use assault weapons to match the firepower they face. The report also explores the ties between terrorism and assault weapons.

"Our communities are less safe today than they were four years ago, when devastating weapons like AK-47s were not as easily available to thugs and other dangerous people," said Paul Helmke, President of the Brady Center. "We urge policymakers to take action now to get these weapons off the streets."

The Brady Center report is entitled Mass Produced Mayhem, a phrase used by federal law enforcement officials to describe the guns back...

"Our communities are less safe today than they were four years ago, when devastating weapons like AK-47s were not as easily available to thugs and other dangerous people,"

They're still peddling this lie, too.

Suacides run about 50% higher than homicides. She is MUCH more concerned with her salary and what she can scam people into giving her sh-tty org.

This Zumbo?

Photobucket

He has since retracted his statement, making the preInternet couplet more applicable than ever.
Of course it's 'shopped.
I shot an error into the air.
It's still going, everywhere.

How many of these people were killed in gun free zones?

I know of at least 30+ in one such zone. Liberalism's blissful utopian vision will be the death of us all.

Plus, I'm sure the Brady people are aware that 78.6% of all statistics are made up on the spot by 23-year old children.

Since Assault Weapons Ban Lifted

This post was for fools; right?

However, it is encouraging that criminals were nice enough to wait for the law before committing criminal gun acts.

This is a typical example of the warped liberal logic. We DON’T TRUST the people so we write a law and then we DO TRUST the criminal to obey the law.

Do you really want people who subscribe to that kind of logic in charge of your government?

Military Automatic Assault Weapons ARE ILLEGAL in this Country...

Actually, they're not. I can buy a fully automatic M-4 carbine just like the ones the soldiers in Iraq carry, legally in most of the states provided I pay the Federal and state excise taxes.

It would have happened with or without the Assault Weapons Ban, and the liars doing the research know it. Bans only affect law abiding gun owners who aren’t going to murder anyone, anyhow. I guess the gun grabbers are getting warmed up for a complete assault on the 2nd Amendment once the Obama Reich is in place.

How many of these killings were committed by paroled felons or by gang members with decades long criminal records? How many of these murders were committed by NRA members?

Its an old ploy to blame the gun for the crime, not the criminal that pulls the trigger. The ban on so-called assualt "style" weapons is irrelevant to someone hell bent on committing a crime.

I heard a great one liner the other day and it’s something that I’d like the Brady Campaign to address if they have the steel orbs to do so...

“Where in US Code does it justify execution for a $200 tax violation?”

There have been hundreds of American Citizens murdered for exactly that by a taxing agency. Which agency? Why the BATFE of course. No other agency will bash your door in, shoot your dog, stomp your cat, molest your wife and children, and then murder you for what is most likely the error of the BATFE and the NFRTR database (see US v. Friesen 2008 out of Oklahoma City) and then they call it a good bust and demand more of our tax money to kill more of us.

If the Brady bunch wants to talk about a ban, ban the BATFE then we’ll talk about other things. Until then, they can take a long walk off a short pier...

Mike

Yes that Zumbo, and yes I know he has since retracted his statement.

I also know that he swore up and down to be the biggest thorn in the gun banners sides. (crickets)

That’s besides the point though. Point was that when he said those things we all knew that eventually the Brady Campaign would use them as their own propaganda.

When I was doing a thesis on weapons bans, I found that Scotland was considering a ban on kitchen knives, because THAT is now the weapon of choice due to guns being banned.

I've traveled there frequently and can confirm that knife crime is a real problem as are home invasions since criminals know that folks are not armed.

The M-9 9mm handgun springs immediately to mind.
