ABC News' Imtiyaz Delawala Reports: Republican vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin has signaled support for a federal marriage amendment defining marriage as between a man and woman a position inconsistent with Sen. John McCain, who has opposed such a measure, as well as with her own previously stated position of letting states decide on such issues.
In an interview to air tomorrow on The 700 Club, Christian Broadcasting News senior correspondent David Brody asked Palin, "On constitutional marriage amendment, are, are you for something like that?"
"I am, in my own, state, I have voted along with the vast majority of Alaskans who had the opportunity to vote to amend our Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman," Palin said, citing the 1998 initiative that banned gay marriage in her home state.
"I wish on a federal level that that's where we would go because I don't support gay marriage," Palin added, taking a position at odds with McCain, who voted against efforts for a proposed Federal Marriage Amendment in 2004 and 2006. Earlier this month, McCain told the Washington Blade, a gay newspaper, that he continues to oppose such an amendment today because he thinks the definition of marriage should be a state matter and not one for the federal government "as long as no state is forced to adopt some other state's standard."

Hopefully this will twist Andrew Sullivan’s panties even tighter.
I suspect they disagree on a heckuva lot more than that. ....which isn’t surprising, since she’s a conservative and he isn’t.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
This ticket can’t seem to stick together with a consistent message.

Fine. One is a conservative and the other is, well, McCain.
Who the heck is this person?
I *thought* she’d be like this! No Joe Liberman, she! :oD
The other ticket/s supporters want to “eliminate” marriage. So, this is nothing but “SMOKE”. Not even worth priting at this stage of the game.
Its not playing if she really believes it.
Not to disuade her from speaking her opinion, but a VP better learn to support and stay on the same message as the President, otherwise they’ll find themselves attending a lot of state funerals rather than power-brokering.
- to paraphrase the consistently on-ticket message of Joe Biden.
Hopefully, she won’t be biting her tongue to support McCain’s liberal ideas. She is the primary reason why millions of conservatives are not bailing on McCain.
Keep a neo-Marxist out of the White House.
That is all you need to know.
Who wants a ticket that practices lock-step mind-control? (For answer, see "neo-Marxist," above.)
“a VP better learn to support and stay on the same message as the President..”
I think Sarah will be wearing the pants in this relationship.
Just remember they are both conservative relative to That One.
Bush entered office pledging to battle socialism with a 'compassionate conservative' standard. Bush crawls away badly scarred, having embraced a conservative socialist agenda.
Or should I say, after embracing the particular type of socialist agenda favored by his grandfather. Nothing ever changes. Three generations of Skull 'n Bones. Symbols speak more loudly than words. Paulson and Bernanke rule our destinies today. Corporatism, criminal conduct and greedy profiteering.
And people wonder why GWB is a globalist ______________?
'Nuff said here.
Their message isn’t inconsistent. They’re both FOR marriage between one man and one woman. They’ve just taken different positions on how to achieve that goal.
The message is that they are both mavericks. Secondarily, each supports traditional marriage, but differ in the best way to achieve that goal.
And we can be sure that they are to the right of their opponents on the Dem ticket.
