Underdog McCain tars Obama as job-killing socialist

ST. LOUIS, Missouri (AFP) John McCain took his campaign to the battleground state of Missouri Monday after the Republican embraced his underdog position in the race for the White House, but warned that rival Barack Obama was a job-killing, free-spending socialist.
"Senator Obama is more interested in controlling who gets your piece of the pie than he is in growing the pie," McCain told a rally in Toledo, Ohio, Sunday.
McCain said Obama's assertions that he planned to cut taxes for 95 percent of Americans was a blind to hide plans to "redistribute wealth" to the "more than 40 percent of Americans" who are too poor to pay income taxes.
"Barack Obama's plan is to raise taxes on some in order to give checks to others. It's not a tax cut, it's just another government give away," McCain told the cheering crowd.
"He believes in redistributing wealth but not in policies that grow our economy and create jobs and opportunities for all Americans."
The Republican senator from Arizona cast himself as a defender of the American work ethic as he promised to fight to protect the American dream by cutting taxes for small businesses and protecting housing values by buying up bad mortgages.

Glad McCain is calling Obama for what he is.
Putting Obama on the defensive is key. He can’t defend his positions on anything because he is a liar. His ideas have not been challenged.
Joe the plumber stripped off the thin veneer with one simple question.
Obama might crack-up under further pressure.

"redistribute wealth" to the "more than 40 percent of Americans" who are too poor to pay income taxes. Gee, no spin on that quote. What a joke...

Was listening to Limbaugh the other day and he mentioned that one of the theories being floated on why McCain wasn't hitting Obama harder was that McCain was being all nice to Obama in order not to offend Colin Powell in the hopes of picking up his endorsement.
Well we all know how that worked so maybe McCain said to himself screw it, I'll take my gloves off!

Thabk you Barack for answering Joe’s question like you did! This is a winning issue obviously and perfect timing. If Barack tries to defend himself he’ll just highlight his weakness on the subject. I’m glad the debates are done because to be honest he does pretty well in them, lowering the general fear about his candidacy.

I think this election is over. Obama is desperate and saturating states like NC, Indiana and covering his flank in WI, MI and MN. Looks like by what the campaigns are doing and whisperings I have heard that Obama folks think Ohio, PA, FL and NC are lost but Va maybe a pickup for Obama. So to my untrained eye, We win all the Bush states except IA and Va and trade those 2 for PA. This self fellating the media is doing about national polls means nothing, it's all about the electoral college and looks like a 2000 redux sans the Florida drama.

McCain is not a socialist. He and most of Congress voted for a socialist bill which was supremely stupid; but,he is not a socialist. He isn’t for universal health care, or higher taxes, or redistribution of wealth or any of those things.
