McCain $160 million ad blitz?

Posted on 10/19/2008 7:41:32 AM PDT by WestFlorida

Has anyone started to see the advertising start to even out in their media markets yet or heard anything reported to suggest this? I know 0bama raised $150 million last month, but I figured that with the RNC money, NRA money, and the $200 million or so that the Rove led Freedom Watch group has, we would be able to outspend them the last few weeks.

Here in central Florida, it’s 20:1 (or perhaps worse) Nobama:McCain ads on both TV and radio. It was frankly difficult as my wife and I were trying to watch college football and the Rays-Sox game last night and it was Nobama all the time. And, sad to say, Nobama’s ads are effective - education, health care and McCain=Bush. With the repetition factor, they HAVE to be having an effect. My fear is that, with early voting starting here, waiting until the last 72 hours, seems liek a strategy of 1988 not 2008.

Here in NC I’m starting to see McCain ads, they are fairly general, but pretty good.

Obamao is a money machine, he’s top 300 million in the last two months, our strategy should be more of a personal one like taking a couple of friends to vote when you vote.

We’ll never be able to outspend Obamao, not with tens of millions in free advertising in the form of positive stories about Obamao in print and on the air.

I have seen them and I am in Oklahoma — they are on cable so we get them.

As for Obama advertising during sports — grinds me to no end. Political advertising should be banned on all sports programs.

“Obamao is a money machine, he’s top 300 million in the last two months...”

Not surprising since he is getting money from the world communist community.

Here in Indy, I'd guess I see 10 Obama ads to every 1 McCain ad. Also, the GOP ads don't seem focused to me. The ads tying Obama to Ayers, Rezko, etc. assumes the listener knows who these people are. That seems unlikely.

In fact, Howard Stern conducted interviews in Harlem (NYC) and asked who they would vote for. No surprise, every one of them said Obama. (Wonder if race plays a part?) They then asked those same people if they supported Obama position on such-and-such. The interesting thing was that “such-and-such” was actually McCain's position on the issues. The closed each interview with: “Do you support Obama’s selection of Sarah Palin for Vice President?” They all responded that she was a great choice. Sorry, but if you can't get that question right, you shouldn't even be voting.

Haven’t seen much in Ohio. 3 to 1 Obama. Maybe they are figuring they’ll need it after they lose. Especially considering the defecit they’ll have to recover in the House and Senate.

Obama broke his promise on limited campaign funds. McCain made the same promise. So McCain is hobbled by his own anti-funding convictions.

“I haven’t seen one McCain ad on television- ever.”

Ehem, you have to turn the TV on! (Just kidding).

It really is astonishing that this election is being stolen and bought on so many levels by Obama and his flunkies.

same here for me, see very few McCain vs. lots of BO ads. Sent money to McCain campaign yesterday hoping he would pickup his ads.
The good thing though is that even though he is spending far less, his polling is coming up!

I hope this isn’t just a rumor. How much of that 86 million tax payer money does McCain have left. That is a lot of money, but once you do tv ads I guess it can dry up quick. I just hope this is not wishful thinking of FRiends on here and that RNC and others actually have this money.

Tracking campaign finance [McCain is refusing donations. Liar BO wants more.]

I guess there aren’t many 527 ads out there like in 2004.

I know I’m in Upstate NY (Blue Country), but I have not seen a single McCain ad on TV. Not a one. That, and the liberal POS rag The Buffalo News endorsed Obama this morning. Big shocker.

My question is: How is McCain going to counter this 30 min. primetime special Obama’s buying next week? I’m still astounded that the World Series is postponing a half hour for this...

What state are you in?

Here in Maine (northern Maine), the number of McCain ads on TV have increased dramatically in the last week or so....endless McCain ads on TV.

Unfortunately, the Obama ads are also increasing, on both TV and radio.

Obama is illegally raising funds. Those $200 non-disclosure donations are coming from liberal millionaires who are gaming the system, and there is not a darn thing anyone can do about it. Republicans would never cheat like that, so it would not have worked for us. The democrats are going to cheat on campaign contributions and voter fraud to steal this election, and it just might work for them.

I hadn't seen many McCain ads in Colorado, but now I think they almost outnumber Obama ads. I don't think they are particularly effective ads however. McCain says "I have a plan." Where have I heard that before. The NRA ads are probably the most effective.

In all honesty, I don't think the ads have that much of an impact for either side. I think most people find them irritating. I know I do. Fewer, more effective ads has got to be better than a huge dump of drivel. Spend the money we've got on making sure every McCain supporter actually votes for McCain. Obama outspent Hillary 3:1 in many of the states he lost. Ads and money might influence an election, but they don't win it.
