Law enforcement officials are reporting that six-year-old Cole Puffinburger has been found alive and is safe in policy custody. The boy was found in the downtown Las Vegas area after being missing since Wednesday.
The boy was found near a bus stop near Oakey and 17th Street. He was found in good shape, but is being transported to UMC for a medical evaluation.
Earlier Saturday, Metro Police canceled an Amber Alert for the six-year-old. Metro held a news conference Saturday afternoon to update the case.
Metro Captain Vincent Cannito said police from several jurisdictions served search warrants in connection with the case. Cannito says large amounts of cash were been recovered at some of the search warrant locations.
Officers have taken a person of interest into custody and they're currently looking for another man, identified as Mexican national Jesus Gastelum. Police believe Gastelum is in Las Vegas or Southern California.
Police canceled the Amber Alert for Cole early Saturday after leads started drying up.
Officers in California found Cole's grandfather, 51-year-old Clemens Tinnemeyer, late Friday. Metro says Tinnemeyer was part of a methamphetamine ring with Mexican drug dealers and vanished with millions of dollars owed to them. Police say when the drug dealers couldn't find him, or the money, they took the boy as ransom.
Tinnemeyer is being interviewed by police.
Wonderful, Mexican drug gangs are now exporting kidnapping, very popular in their country to ours. Celebrate Diversity.
Hmm. Did the kidnappers just decide to give up the boy since the police found their target first? Or what?
Grampa was sleeping with wolves.
Folks lesson here is pretty dang clear.
If anyone you know that is kin/blood and they are living an uncivil lifestyle kick them out of your life.
Blood does not run thick if it is tainted.
I say SHAME on Grandpa who chose to cohort with Drug Lords.
How many drug Lords do you know?
I would guess 0.
That man put his family in harms way.
Smarter spell checking never seems to arrive. What would it take to have a small database of what two words commonly go together?
Thank God. This is far better news than I expected.
How many stories do you hear with the words “Mexican drug dealers” that have a happy ending? I don’t know how the grandfather could think that it would be a good idea to get involved with any drug dealers let alone some from Mexico.
As for the grandfather: May he be parboiled alive slowly in hell, while his drug-lord cohorts watch. And may the grandfather's drug-lord cohorts be subjected to a very, very slow roasting alive on a spit while watching their stupid, worthless scum of an old man being parboiled.
And may their excruciating misery endure forever and ever. Amen.
Thanks the Lord!
Grandpa needs to be flogged in the public square!
How in the world could this drug-dealing family steal from drug dealers and not expect bad things for their themselves and their family. Idiots!
Wonderful News
Nothing more in the Vegas media yet.
I can't help but think that Mexican drug gangs wouldn't be so bold if an organized police force were after them every time, such as was this case in Vegas.
The only family member I have read about who was involved with the drug dealers was dear old grandpa, not the entire family. We don't know all the evidence yet though.
“or what”
I have a feeling a pretty penny was paid for the child.
Mexican illegals are committing crimes like this even in small towns all over America. We have had so many people killed in car wrecks where an illegal driver was at fault. And my gosh, at the rapes and sexual molesting of children by illegals here is just staggering. It seems like there is 2 or 3 a week.
Same here, cripplecreek. I didn’t think he would be found alive!
“Posing as Police”....
Exactly WHAT does that mean? Did they have uniforms?
