The Obama campaign announced Friday that it is asking Attorney General Michael Mukasey to turn over any investigations of voter fraud or voter suppression to Special Prosecutor Nora Dannehy, the same special prosecutor recently appointed to investigate the U.S. attorney firing scandal.
Its the latest salvo in an escalating war over allegations of possible voter irregularities during the upcoming presidential election.
What theyre actually about is the unprecedented effort to essentially sap the American people of confidence in the voting process, Bob Bauer, the Obama campaigns general counsel, said Friday on a conference call.

Just tell him that the documents will be turned over just as soon as he turns over his OFFICIAL birth certificate...
Sorry, ACORN is the one under investigation for voter fraud. That is an activity which most certainly will undermine confidence in our electoral process.
Really,Really,Really,Really,Really,Really,Really,Really,Really,Really, Really stupid move on his part.
Hopefully, Bush will ask the AG to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate ALL voter registration allegations. Hmmm, wonder if the Obama campaign would like that.
And what do you want to be they’ll get their way?
Aw gee Obama, there just isn’t enough time to do that. Bet you have heard that on before also.
They are asking for the ACORN-friendly DOJ to get involved because they can’t control the FBI. Asking for a particular prosecutor... wow, that’s nervy.
The thought of these people being in charge terrifies me.
I bet that ACORN read BO the Riot Act, and made it clear if he doesn’t protect them, they wont protect him.
But yeah, really stupid move to do this.
Exactly. Why they would want their fingerprints on this is amazing to me.
They must be in meltdown mode in the Obama campaign. Polls swinging HARD back to McCain, ACORN, Joe the Plumber, Ayers, etc...
They’ve seen this before when Hillary started kicking his ass. If it weren’t for the Superdelegates that he bought off he would have lost.
No superdelegates in the General Election — so he has to commit voter fraud.
The irony? If he didn’t have ACORN out there, he would probably be cruising to an easy victory.
The DOJ should start with investigating Ohio’s rogue AG Jennifer Brunner.
They are just trying to change the subject from Joe the Plumber to McCain the Cheater. ROFLMAOPIMP
All things being equal, they need to sit back and receive what they’re given by those who are in charge.
Typical Commies. Turn the investigation over to THEIR Commie pals. Nice.
Hey dipsh*t! Most of us are already "sapped" and know that voter fraud is rampant in this third world banana republic you guys have given us.
ACORN and their paymasters, the Obama campaign, have already sapped the confidence of the American people in the election process. Like Zimbabwe, we should vote even if the outcome has been predetermined—the chosen one cannot lose. Widespread voter registration fraud in most of the swing states—all Obama has to do is pick up one or two of the states Bush won narrowly, and he’s got a majority in the electoral college.
Now I think I see why many politicians are lawyers.
Funny, I thought Obama was not all that close with ACORN. How does he find the time during this point in the campaign to work on things that are not critical to election?Or, maybe ACORN is more connected to his campaing than he lets on.
