28 Out of 92 Cast Votes in NM Democratic Primary Appear Fake (The Magic of ACORN)
NRO's Campaign Spot ^ | 10/17/2008 | Jim Geraghty

Posted on 10/17/2008 2:07:49 PM PDT by mojito

Over at Tapped, A. Serwer, fresh off calling me a racist for saying that Gwen Ifill should not have moderated the debate because she didn't tell the Commission on Presidential Debates about her book on "The Age of Obama," declares that I am paranoid, too.

He writes, "there isn't a single instance of organized voter fraud that Geraghty can actually point to, despite being up in arms about it. That's "paranoia"."

Today, news out of New Mexico, the state GOP looked at information for 92 newly-registered voters in one district, and found 28 had "missing or inaccurate Social Security numbers or birth dates. In some cases, more than one voter was registered using the same Social Security number. In others, people who the Republicans said had no Social Security number on public record were registered." All of these are of individuals who have already cast ballots in the June New Mexico state legislative Democratic primary.

Hey, guess who was out registering voters in this district before the primary? Aw, you saw this coming - ACORN. The same group running into legal troubles in thirteen other states. When you see the same issues coming up with the same group in fourteen different instances, how much more evidence do you need before you conclude that this is "organized voter fraud"?

Beyond that, Serwer deems local election officials as incapable of sorting out what to do when someone is purged erroneously from a voter roll. To these people, it's as if the "provisional ballot" was never invented. Most jurisdictions have their election results certified weeks after Election Day. If you're not on the roll, you fill out the provisional ballot and then demonstrate that you are who you say you are and that you should be on the roll. It gets sorted out, your vote counts. It isn't that hard and happens across the country all the time.

Their argument is that no state authority should be ensuring that voter registration applications match actual people, despite the horror stories of ACORN pestering people to register 27 times, etc. Anyone who shows up at any voting booth should be allowed to cast a vote, whether or not they can demonstrate that they are who they say they are.

Why are these people like this? Why do they put partisan advantage over having a clean election where we're certain nobody voted twice?

Gee, that's only a little under 30%.

Hillary won the primary in a squeaker. What would have happened if she'd have won in a blow-out?

How many primaries did Hillary lose because of this kind of fraud??? I bet her loyal supporters would like to know, but then, the delegates weren’t even all polled at their convention!!!!!

If there were no Obama, ACORN would be working for Hillary.

This isn't the first election cycle ACORN has affected, either. It's just that we've been able to overcome their fraud in places like Newark, Philadelphia (where Kerry got 110% of the vote in 2004), and Chicago by piling up our margins in states like Ohio and Florida.

That's why ACORN is even more active than ever in OH and FL this year.

Remember how Hillary kept "losing the caucus states"? Is it possible that some of the Obama "voters" were going from state to state?

Looks like Obama was running his own "Operation Chaos".

It would help to explain why he did so poorly in the later primaries. When you're buying an election, why pay for a landslide?

If we don’t win now, and fix this problem over the next 4 years, voting will become pointless.

If we don’t win this time, I see no way of making any change in all this. This is such a mess:(

Republicans said the very same thing after both the 2000 and 2004 elections.

Nothing was done by the Republicans to combat this sort of fraud during their 6 years of control.

The simple fact is "conservatives" are a dying breed, and by extension, the Republican party is withering away.

Eventually the argument will be between Liberals and Not Liberal Enough.

Republicans will be more of a fringe group than the Green Party.

This needs to be investigated. Fully, without prejudices left or right. I, as a patriot and ‘small r’ republican, would rather lose fairly than ever win dishonestly. I can handle an Obama victory if it is fair. I’ll hate it, I’ll fear it, but I’ll handle it. My nation will still be great, for America is much more than her government. That said, if there is incontrovertible, undeniable evidence that the Left steals this election for Obama...

I take up arms.

That isn’t bravado. That would be awful and sad. But if in December we’re seeing stories even in the New York Times that this election was a fraud, we are headed for a civil war. I don’t understand how the Left thinks - do they really think an overt coup d’etat wouldn’t be met with force?

It will take a majority in Congress to "fix this problem".

We had one for twelve years...but the Republican majority couldn't be bothered to deal with the problem. They were too busy spending our money.

We won't have one for the next two years, either -- even if McCain wins. So, there's no chance of fixing it until after the 2010 election.

Hopefully, by then, the RNC will have extracted its head from its a$$...and we can get something done.

And yet, why is it that this happens? Shouldn’t it be illegal? Or is it ‘ONLY’ voter fraud? (sarcasm/disbelief/irkedness)
