Campaign jingle: Joe-the-Plummer that's the name, He just sent Obama's chances down the drain.
Joe: Here, Hero McCain fix'd that for ya. McCain: Are you the Joe, Sarah was talking about?
****I think if McCain is smart, he makes a campaign commercial with Joe Plumber. And then he just crushes Obamas answer. Well Joe, unlike Barack Obama, I intend to let you and every other hardworking American small businessmen and women, to keep more of what you earn by being PRODUCTIVE, HARD-WORKING people that MAKE THIS COUNTRY THE GREAT COUNTRY THAT IT IS! And damn if Im going to raise your taxes! Im going to fight to LOWER your taxes and get government OUT OF YOUR WALLET! ITS YOUR MONEY, NOT THE GOVERNMENTS, NOT ANYONE ELSES. ITs YOURS, JOE, And Im going to fight for you to keep more of it.****
And the logical reasons for having Joe keep his money are many. He will be most likely to continue spending that money in responsible ways by...
1) using the money to hire more workers so others can not only share the wealth but help create it, or at least save up more money for hard times.
2) not using the money on an inflated mortgage which he can’t afford.
3) not gambling, doing drugs or prostitutes or the many other non-productive ways of using money.
4) not giving more money to a government agency which will take out a big cut for operating expenses and hand out the minimal remainder to buy votes.
Love the title!! LOL.
Yes, Joe the Plumber will be on Huckabee’s FNC show this Saturday night at 8pm ET (”Huckabee” re-airs on Sunday at 8pm ET). Mike Huckabee announced this to Greta earlier this evening...
McCain choked on the Joe the Plumber ideas...
McCain offhanded the important point about capital gains for the guy Joe wants to buy the business from.
McCain didn’t explain and differentiate his healthcare plan correctly.
McCain didn’t explain how Obama’s new tax plans will crush the future business owners of America today, crushing the job market for years to come in the future.
McCain didn’t give enough thought to the entire “joe the plumber” rhetorical slight of hand before he got on stage.
McCain had to say it simply, “Joe the Plumber and YOUR small business employer and all the business owners in your area are going to get soaked in Federal taxes to the point where no one will hire anyone on the books due to the life sapping drain of Federal taxes that Barack Obama is proposing to fund his 850 billion plus in new spending initiatives.”
He couldn’t put together the three concepts into a clear narrative the entire night. McCain didn’t give enough thought to the entire “joe the plumber” rhetorical slight of hand before he got on stage. Was sad to watch.
Agree completely with your response.
The Joe the Plumber guy was on Neil Cavuto’s show today on a over the phone interview, the guy has “GRAVITAS” and would be a homerun if McCain could get him to agree to do a TV spot.
Great way to put this crap in perspective.
Was in a ‘local’ owned Pizza Shop yesterday when the ‘old’ Italian owner looked at me and said...”Ah yes, another Obama fan”..I responded “NOT HARDLY” and he went on to tell me all the ‘great things’ BO is going to do for him/us.
I really couldn’t believe what I was hearing and about to put the business on the ‘no spend money here list’ when he finished with. “May as well retire now and save myself the trouble later.”
Picking up the obvious sarcasm I said “Don’t forget his plan for ‘us’ to come in here, order a pizza, sign a voucher which he could turn in to the government to collect the money—after TAXES naturally”.
‘FREE PIZZA FOR EVERYONE’
To which he shook my hand and declared me a ‘member of his team’....
BTW I tend to NOT frequent a business that ONE SIDEDLY supports either candidate (posters etc) as they are bound to alienate approximately 50% of the population, however that tends to ease up a bit when it comes to MY candidate, even though I still think management is being foolish.
I wish I had bumper stickers with your sentiments printed on it.
I'd probably be able to give thousands of them away and see them on pick-up trucks all over the interstates.
Nice little story. And that’s the tack McCain was using that was starting to make headway—0bama/Democrats = government doing/solving the problem; McCain-Palin/Repubs = Joe the Plumber’s of the world doing/solving the problem.
Look, the country has a great mistrust of government right now. The congress-approved bailout is looking more and more like a great big boondoggle. The failed policies of the past (a phrase 0bama keeps bringing up again and again and again—let’s use his own words!) are those that try to apply a government fix to every problem that comes along. McCain has got to tie 0bama to the notion that he is all about solidifying the reflex of “government needed/insert government” to issues like healthcare, an ever-worsening public education system, the banking industry, etc. and remind everyone how they feel about the job government has been doing of late. This, in my view, is what he needs to blare loud and long.
Somebody mentioned that opposition researchers are going to attack Joe the Plumber, maybe in this thread, it has begun

I thought it was “Bill the plumber”...
Sure. They need to drive his popularity down so that his business will fall under the 250K threshold and he will not be taxed and 0bama can say, “See, Joe, I helped you. I told you I would.”
Or put it this way. Joe makes 85G a year. Current tax rate, the government takes 28050. If Joe's taxes are raised to 40%, he than has to surrender to the government 34000. However, you lower his taxes to 30%, than Joe surrenders tot he government 25500. He can now afford a helper and pay the helper at 35G a year. At the same 30% tax rate, the helper surrenders to the government 10500. Combined with what Joe has to give up, that is a combined 36000. Multiply this by millions of people and businesses, the government will take in more money than by raising taxes.

It is marxist, and I wish that McCain has said so on national TV:
"What Senator Obama proposes is nothing more than a Marxist redistribution of wealth reminiscent of the old Soviet Union, Eastern Europe during the cold war, Cuba under Castro, North Korea, and communist countries around the world. In the words of Karl Marx, the father of communism, 'From each according to their means, to each according to their needs.' My opponent calls this the "trickle up theory." I call it the largest redistribution of wealth from small business owners -- from every 'Joe the Plumber' who has worked long hours, saved money rather than spent like a drunken congressman on things he can't afford, taken risks at personal sacrifice, and built a business that employs people in the community and pumps money back into the local economy -- to people who, under my opponent's plan, don't work, and don't even pay taxes. How do you give tax breaks to people who don't pay taxes? In a socialist/Marxist society, you confiscate the wealth earned by the people who build businesses and create jobs and you let some bureaucrat give your money to able bodies adults who don't work and really don't want to work out of some sense of entitlement. Senator Obama's Marxist economic proposals failed in the Old Soviet Union as evidenced by the fall of the Berlin Wall, and they have failed in Cuba, North Korea, and communist countres around the world. Obama's plan is wrong for America and it is wrong for the world."
... and don’t chew your fingernails. ;-)
