PITTSBURGH (AP) — U.S. Rep. John Murtha says his home base of western Pennsylvania is racist and that could reduce Barack Obama's victory margin in the state by 4 percentage points.
The 17-term Democratic congressman tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in a story posted Wednesday on its Web site that, as he put it: "There is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area."

If McCain/GOP wants to win, they should have commercials immediately throughout western PA, piggybacking on the clinging to guns and religion line, too.
This should be the final nail for BO in PA.

I don't know about any other PA FReepers, but I am damn sick and tired (and no I am not opusing) of being told I am a racist for NOT supporting 0bama. So let me get this straight....Murtha, a racist, and ALL of his racist friends who vote for him in Western PA, will put aside racism on Nov. 4 and elect Obama the new king of the new Dem Order (New Dem Order = Liberal Whitehouse, Liberal Congress, and Liberal Judicial) so they can 'FIX' the economy, society, and provide free beer for everyone. UhHuhh. Might as well, the election sure looks 'fixed'! the debates are 'fixed'. even the selection of the candidates was 'fixed'. As in drugs ya kinda have to be careful to find out what the 'fixer' put in that mix.

Yes I agree. Interestingly it was not until the New Deal that the blacks quit voting Republican. Long story short, no jobs to be had and what there was the whites got. New deal gave them yard work and subsidies. Their vote was bought by Roosevelt, and they have been voting democrat since.

I am simmering down (a little). Is Murtha that stupid (I think not) or is 0bama much, much further down in the internals, and the 'racist' claim gives them (the Dems) cover in what should be a solid blue state.
Anybody have any other ideas? I can't even see a Clinton connection...because Murtha has always just been about John Murtha...so I don't see marching (sabotage) orders from Hillary's camp. So...it can be bad numbers, right?
As a former Swann volunteer, I can say that it was the most disorganized campaign I've ever seen.
The established pubbies seemed to want Swann to lose.
Swann was too nice and easy on fat, fast eddie. Eddie is so corrupt it would have been easy to hammer him but Swann never went for the jugular.

You can still help him find the door by donating time and/or money to his opponent, Bill Russell.
Fortunately that's not too likely to occur.

I think it's anxiety among all top-level Dems that Obama is in real trouble in PA. Murtha likely didn't plan this. He just has Schumer's Syndrome. He sees a microphone and makes a beeline for it, mouth agape! So he probably just blurted something out. (Like "killed innocents in cold blood!!")
The runaway mouth is kinda funny, because he used to be known for his behind-the-scenes work. But ever since he became an "anti-war" Congressman it's like he's tried and is now hooked on crack cocaine (publicity).
OK, Western PA. Are you going to bend over and take this crap from Murtha? I am from the area, and Murtha offends me.

So is he saying they already have enough ACORN votes submitted to seal it for Obama in that area? Otherwise, Obama ain’t gonna git tha racist vote.
