PITTSBURGH (AP) U.S. Rep. John Murtha says his home base of western Pennsylvania is racist and that could reduce Barack Obama's victory margin in the state by 4 percentage points.
The 17-term Democratic congressman tells the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in a story posted Wednesday on its Web site that, as he put it: "There is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area."

Maybe he should be the one who served as POW back in ‘Nam. You are a disgrace Devil Dog.
To: LRoggy
No, he’s pissing on PA (as usual) because he knows ONLY incumbents get reelected, as a Congressional policy ( stated by LIZZIE DOLE on WABE radio, Allentown).

he knows ONLY incumbents get reelectedWell, if one isn't an incumbent, then one can't get re-elected (unless you count sitting out an election or two).

Sarah needs to follow this up with a visit to his district.

She was just there in Johnstown last weekend, helping to promote Murtha's opponent -
Bill Russell.

During the primary Murtha backed Clinton. I remember his radio spots saying how “tough” Clinton is...yada..yada...
Union member + Democrat=voting fool.
I can't wait for the day when I won't have to see Murtha’s traitorous face ever again!

I still cant figure out why Lynn Swann lost his Governor bid in 2006 by such a wide margin.... He didn’t run a campaign, that’s why. If it hadn’t been for us whitey’s, you’d never know he was running.

Sounds like he’s pulling out the lame old standby excuse for Obama NOT doing well in PA. He must know something.
It would be sweet to finally have my states votes represent my vote for a change.
Saw a lawn today with at least 7 McCain/Palin signs lined up from one end of the lot to the other along the roadway. Now, for people in this area to have the signs up, period, tells me there’s votes there. The Obama signs mean nothing. It’s no big shakes having a Democrat’s sign in your yard around here.
I wish I could vote Murtha out, but he’s not in my district!

I’ll admit that sometimes it hard not to be racist. Call me racist often enough and I’ll start to act like one.

Blacks were solidly Republican. From 1890-1908 southern states essentially disfranchised most blacks and many poor whites through constitutional amendments and statutes creating barriers to voter registration and voting. More blacks continued to vote in border and northern states. Washington emerged as the spokesman for the black community. Republican national leaders routinely consulted with him about appointments of blacks to political positions throughout the nation.
Washington worked and socialized with many white politicians and industry leaders. He argued that the surest way for blacks eventually to gain equal social rights was to demonstrate patience, industry, thrift, and usefulness, and said that these were the key to improved conditions for African Americans in the United States. Because they had only recently been granted emancipation, he believed they could not expect too much at once.

Don’t hold you breath. The leader of our state GOP is a RINO from this end of the state, and pretty much endorsed Murtha when Diana Irey was running against him. I hope Bill Russell kicks Murtha’s butt and sends him packing.
