Thousands flock to Dover for chance to see Sarah Palin
Foster's Daily Democrat, Dover (NH) ^ | October 15, 2008 | ADAM D. KRAUSS

DOVER — More than 3,000 people were waiting outside Dover High School this morning for a chance to hear Sarah Palin speak at the school later this morning.

The crowd was just beginning to file in about 9:45 a.m. The line stretched from the school, up Alumni Avenue and onto Route 108.

Inside, the stage was set for Palin, the Alaska governor and vice-presidential hopeful, who will speak from under banners that proclaim "Country First" and "New Hampshire does the same". The theme from "Rocky" is playing in the background.

For eventgoers and members of the press, security has been tight.

Among the first people in line were a mother and son, Linda and Jack Gorman, from Berwick, Maine. They arrived at 5 a.m.

Realistically, if Sarah and the McCain campaign were perceived to be truly on the ropes by supporters and ready to be knocked out by Obama’s overwhelming support in New Hampshire and in the rest of the country as the MSM suggests on a daily basis through self-aggrandizing polls and commentary, Sarah would not be performing before SRO audiences. Instead any truly objective person has to come to the conclusion that if anything Sarah’s audiences have grown larger and she and her ideas have become more popular as the campaign moves toward the final stretch and the finish line. Now if there are signs that her support on the stump is diminishing and the crowds are not filling the venue consistently I will be the first one to admit that perhaps the bubble has burst, but until that time I will remain firmly behind the eloquence and passion of Sarah who I see as the only viable chance to beat back the Obama forces of evil, despair and oppression that will change America forever.

Well lets just throw the one ring to rule them all into the Potomac and let good triumph over evil.

Actually, NONE of the cities you list are within an hour. Boston is nearly two hours away. Manchester is closest but still over an hour. Nashua (if there's no traffic) is over an hour. Concord is 1 1/2 to 2 hours on a good day.

Dover is rather like Portsmouth in that it has a bunch of granola crunchers, but make no mistake, 3-4K showing up on a work day is a VERY good sign.

I especially liked this line from her speech:
Here in Dover, there's home to two kinds of people: the fine people of New Hampshire, and the fine people of Massachusetts who got sick of paying all those taxes.

Think that'll make it onto the evening news? Me neither.

And, thanks to the IDIOTS running his campaign (INTO THE GROUND) Senator McCain will be in BENDOVER tonight.

WTF are you talking about?

Sadly I have to work--but I did run into Palin's bus/escort as I was heading to work. She was northbound on the Spaulding (Hwy 16) between Dover and Rochester northbound on her way to Laconia. Then she'll be in Salem later tonight. Busy girl.

Thanks to his TAKE THE HIGH ROAD campaign approach, if tonight’s “debate” goes like the others, John will be BENDING OVER, gripping his ankles asking Obama “Thank you, sir, may I have another.”

While I admire McCain’s sense of honor, he’s running against one of the MOST DISHONORABLE, DISINGENUOUS, DISHONEST candidates in history. Either he takes off the gloves tonight or he pisses away his shot at the WH and Obama gets 4 years to destroy a 240 year of history of American freedom.

What Obama understands and McCain doesn’t is IT’S ABOUT WINNING!!!!!

Sarah is going to be in Salem, NH this evening. The venue is an outdoor stadeum that seats approx 20,000. People work during the day. As it was, there was a very good turn out in Dover. I was there and the gymnasium was filled to capacity and there was a good sized overflow crowd.

Thanks for the update—I saw there were a few protestors with a few signs. Did you see them or was it just the AP reporter trying to “balance” the whole thing out?

With respect, I disagree. We've seen this tactic from the Dems for decades now, and all they've succeeded in doing is becoming more shrill, more extreme, and more repulsive to the average American. Many Democrats are holdovers from the JFK/FDR era which frankly wouldn't recognize what the Democrat party has become.

As I've said before, there's nothing democratic about Democrats. I understand and recognize that the ends do NOT necessarily justify the means. It goes to integrity--why sell yourself out for a victory? Rings kind of hollow, doesn't it? When a real crisis comes down, the American people are going to see that they made a horrible mistake in continuing to support the Democrats and (God forbid) Obama should he win next month.

Maybe an Obama win and the destruction he would unleash on America is enough to get Joe Six-Pack off his fat butt and take back this country. It took Carter to give us Reagan.

Oh, could be that the recognition by the voters here of the INTEGRITY of the Democrats is why they now control BOTH houses and are on the verge of taking the WH? Right!

And the “real crisis” to which you refer is coming down the tracks like a locomotive and with the Chosen One in the WH (because JM and his people wouldn’t hammer home BOs MASSIVE character flaws, LEFTIST ASSOCIATIONS and LIES), that “real crisis” could prove to be one from which this nation may never recover.

My late father often said about folks who refused to face facts that they wouldn’s say “sh*t” if they had a mouthful.

The fat lady hasn’t yet sung and a lot can happen in 3 weeks but, unless JM et al take off the gloves and barring some event to turn this thing, I fear JM — who seems to think he’s involved in some polite debate on the Senate floor instead of the gunfight to which he’s brought a fluffy pillow — is toast.

I’m beginning to taste sh*t, aren’t you. About 4 years worth.

Yes she did—I passed her bus going the opposite way as she was heading up there.

Dang, I might possibly have been able to get to that one. But Laconia is a sucky place to get into and out of. I wonder where she spoke.
