BAMA CAMPAIGN ISSUES TALKING POINTS TO MEDIA AHEAD OF DEBATE Wed Oct 15 2008 11:15:03 ET
The Obama campaign issued a set of debate 'talking points' to media on Wednesday morning, the DRUDGE REPORT can reveal.
Press Secretary Sean Smith issued the directive in an email from Pennsylvania, 12 hours before the debate.
The directive oddly mirrors much of the main press analysis and theme of the current campaign:
* This is John McCain's last chance to turn this race around and somehow convince the American people that his erratic response to this economic crisis doesn't disqualify him from being President.
* Just this weekend the weekend, John McCain vowed to "whip Obama's you-know-what" at the debate, and he's indicated that he'll be bringing up Bill Ayers to try to distract voters.
* So we know that Senator McCain will come ready to attack Barack Obama and bring his dishonorable campaign tactics to the debate stage.
Obama continues to lead on the economic crisis with a rescue plan for Main Street.
* Over the course of the campaign, Barack Obama has laid out a set of policies that will grow our middle class and strengthen our economy.
* But he knows we face an immediate economic emergency that requires urgent action - on top of the plans he's already laid out - to help workers and families and communities struggling right now.
* That's why Barack Obama is introducing a comprehensive four-part Rescue Plan for the Middle Class - to immediately to stabilize our financial system, provide relief to families and communities, and help struggling homeowners.
* This is a plan that can and should be implemented immediately.
* Obama has shown steady leadership during this crisis and offered concrete solutions to move the country forward - and his Rescue Plan for the Middle Class builds on the plans to strengthen the economy and rebuild the middle class that he's laid out over the course of this campaign.
* Already in this campaign, he's unveiled plans to give 95 percent of workers and their families a tax cut, eliminate income taxes for seniors making under $50,000, bring down the cost of health care for families and businesses; and create millions of new jobs by investing in the renewable energy sources.
* John McCain has been erratic and unsteady since this crisis began - staggering from position to position and trying to change the subject away from the economy by launching false character attacks.
Developing...
Exactly. Remember if Obama is ever seen down in this election, he will have a tough time raising money. He has to raise money in order to compete in this race at the end.
The media has been lying about the polls all along and know that they have to show a biased that has never been seen in American politics for Obama to win.
THIS IS NOT OVER!
AMEN Rose. AMEN
-Barack Hussein Obama
Who’s moderating this one.....Hugo Chavez?
Who can forget the sudden pervasiveness of "gravitas" back in 2000? It was so blatant and obvious as to be almost comical.
This is just more of the same. What most people don't realize is that, the more closely you observe the media, the more you come to realize that they've been nothing but a liberal/dem propaganda mouthpiece for at least the past 40 years, and probably much longer than that.
On the positive side, I think more people are becoming aware of this every day, though that will end if Obama wins and the dems hold strong majorities in Congress (via things like the "Fairness Doctrine" and expansion of the Orwellian "Hate Speech" laws).
Not sure what you mean by "nice try," but I share your feelings about McCain.
That said, I really don't think it is in any way out of bounds for a Presidential campaign to fax talking points to the news media in advance of a debate.
If McCain's campaign has not already done the same, that is one more reason to be angry at them. But I don't think in this particular case, Obama's team did anything untoward by doing so, however odious I may find the actual content of his talking points memo to be.
Hit google news with McCain and erratic, you get over 5000 hits. Most in the last 24 hours and from around the world.
And don’t forget, he’s old.
It's the media vs. middle America.
However, I have no doubt the media will treat Dem talking points much differently than GOP talking points.

How many of today’s media have roots that go back to the 60’s/70’s and the radical movements? How many of them or their parents were involved in the Anti-War movement?
It was bad with Kerry but this is ten times worse. They refuse to cover ties with Weather Underground unrepentent terrorists, ACORN for the most part, his own background with the mentor being the Communist Davis, the black liberation person Rev Wright, Farrahkan, and the list goes on and on of 60’s/70’s radical types. His speeches in Philly on Saturday were taken from speeches of the black radicals of the 60’s/70’s, Malcolm X, Stokey Carmichael, Eldridge Cleaver and others all who called for riots to get their way, but no coverage.
Who are the MSM of today? What is their background? Did they cover or were part of the radical movements? How many of them belonged to the Students for Democratic Action?
This enquiring mind would like to know because it is the only thing that makes sense. The group of radicals from back then has been wanting to take over our Government for years and the media is their accomplice in this election.
Any comments?
“Im middle class and I dont need to be rescued, thanks.
Can I opt out?”
When Obama says middle class he means those who don’t work — “the community”, doncha know.
If you work, you’re “rich” and need your wealth spread around.
2. While Obama is talking about generalities of his "plan," and telling you that they're details, McCain can talk about his team that he would put in place to get us out of this mess.
3. McCain should then press Obama to name his team, and Obama won't do it.
4. That's when McCain should hammer Obama on his associations with radicals.
5. McCain has to first lay the groundwork of naming his team, then demand that Obama respond with his team, and then tell the American people that Obama won't name his team because they are all radicals from his past.

“...Andrea Mitchell sounded as if she was reading this word for word.”
She always does except for when she fouls it up because she’s too stupid to understand the spin they want her to deliver.
McCain...don’t let Obama explain his way out of ACORN or AYERS...call him on it, press him on it...make him contradict himself.
Glad to hear the RNC is going to start advertising on TV soon because I haven’t seen a single McCain ad on ANY of the 400 channels I receive since the convention ended. I see Obama ads morning noon, night and at 3:30 am between infomercials for Colon Cleanse and Reverse Mortgages.
My neighborhood, which is fairly upscale in a Midwestern state has Obama signs in front of every other $300K home and only two McCain signs.
If McC/P are winning, nobody around here knows it.
“Continue to pray. This will all backfire on them. Just watch how God will fight this war. It will be unconventional.”
I agree.
