Over at RealDebateWisconsin Fred Dooley was contacted by the mother of a Racine Unified School District 8th grade student in Wisconsin public schools about an outrageous thing she found in her son's school textbook. Apparently, in this textbook supposedly teaching about literature, one of the books being pushed as a perfect example of that subject is Barack Obama's memoir Dreams from my Father. That's right, a book by a current political candidate for president is being pushed on our children as "literature." It also seems probable from campaign donation records that a principle member of the publishing company is a large Obama donor.
One would think that focusing on the ideology of a politician currently running for president would be a bit over-the-top even for our extreme left leaning system of education in this country. But there it is anyway. The book even presents a photo of the Senator at a campaign rally with signs advertising his campaign website address to help better indoctrinate the kids.

Two words:
Home School.
You get to pick your own textbooks.
“...a book by a current political candidate for president is being pushed on our children as “literature.”
American ‘educators’ forgot what LITERATURE was a LLLLLOOOONNNNNGGG time ago!
Propaganda. Re-education begins.
“Two words:
Home School.
You get to pick your own textbooks.”
I agree, but I expect that option will soon be made illegal
under Hussein.
Your kids will be hauled of to concentration camps.
“Re-education begins.”
Which will eventually be supplemented by Chinese-style “re-education through labor” camps.
Cut the pages out, have a rally with the other parents and toss them back on the front lawn of the school. It will bring in the news cameras and the story will be inescapable.
So this school district is acknowledging that it's fiction?
GET YOUR CHILDREN OUT OF GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS. It’s child abuse!
Most people don't realize what a rough ride we are in for if Obama wins.
I’m not sure how the Wisc textbook system works, but it is probably like this:
Publishers present textbooks to State Dept of Education textbook selection committee. The state selection committee approve or disapprove.
The State Dept of Ed then provides school districts with the approved listings.
Districts periodically select textbooks. They usually have locally formed committees of teachers and, maybe, parents, who select from the approved list of textbooks.
==
If the Obama quote is in an approved textbook, it is because the local selection committee, the school district and the state department either did not scrutinize it or did allow it.
Well, they already have forced “social services” before they let you get your diploma.
“Two words: Home School.”
Four more: While you still can.
Bill Ayers and his push the radical in the school books..
I know home schooling is in jeopardy. This election is so important on so many issues.
You know, it seems to me that all this crap of obama hussein this and that showing up everywhere is a lot more than just a political career. It strikes me as B.O. is the dummy in front of the cameras and there is a machine of a global organization behind it err, him.
Don’t worry about it. It all fits...
8th Grade text book...
The writing in Obama’s “autobiographies” is at approximately an 8th grade level...
What’s not to like?
PS - Since the bad writing in his books is actually the work of a ghost writer (possibly Bill Ayers), I don’t even want to think about how poor Obama’s ACTUAL writing skills must be.
First time I ever wanted to burn a book..
Back in the day, Soviet school children were required to write poems praising their Dear Leader, Joseph Stalin. Some of these fawning pieces of trash are just nauseating to read.
The kids wrote this garbage, even as Stalin was sending their parents to be “liquidated,” or just off to the Gulag in Siberia.
And they say it can’t happen here...
