I agree.

He is an empty suit who will be removed and replaced when his handlers see fit.

What is really scary is the level of support for this guy amongst homeschoolers. I had to leave an email list I was on for Michigan homeschoolers because there were just too many people who say they are voting for the big O.

There is a lot of work to do!

There just are no other works of literature to choose from in America. Surely that's why his writing was chosen.

A teacher at our school yesterday cheered about Bush almost being out of office on the morning announcements. My daughter was absent - heard this from another mom.

The way the left/liberals/radicals control higher education, why are we surprised they've now gained control over textbooks? They have had control over Social Studies since History was removed from public schools. That is why we even have "social" studies.

They still knew what it was in 1979, when I graduated HS.

Look for a anti-Obama backlash in Wisconsin.

I wonder if Ayers had a hand in this worship of the Great Leader.

Think how long we have been told/forcefed that every American is racist. So much support is out of "white guilt" while plenty more is due to his "cool, young, hip" factor.

I have always lived in the deep south and was educated in public de-segregated schools. I recently realized that plenty of people (typically over the age of 45, or so) grew up in a racist atmosphere, and now have incredible guilt from their earlier opinions. It makes them "feel good" to vote for Obama - the same feeling they get when they drive (use gas) to drop off a few plastic grocery bags at the recycling location.

I think you’re right about the guilt. Maybe people are just saying one thing to pollsters and will vote another.

Either way this election goes, we are in for a rough time.

“This election is so important on so many issues.”

Of course it is, but the American public has been so dumbed down, I think there is little hope for them.
They are now just lemmings.
They are going to jump off the ciff just to thumb their nose at Bush.

Honey, keep you powder dry!

Get busy emailing people with articles showing who the Big O really is. You can make a difference in this election. Hope is not dead.

You must be living in a bubble. Do you not realize how dumb the majority of Americans are? Their biggest priority is reading US and People, each week. They actually watch 'The View' and let Oprah dictate their spirituality. To them, CNN is a news channel and 9/11 was an inside job! HELP, I NEED HOPE!

“Two words:

Home School.

You get to pick your own textbooks.”

That will be made illegal under the Obamamessiah. If you attempt it your children will be taken away from you while you are sent off to be “re-educated”.

Well done -- I've been calling him that since the primaries.

Two words:

Home School.

Or private school.

"That's right, a book by a current political candidate for president is being pushed on our children as "literature."

How is it literature? This is absurd.

Well here's a couple problems...
The Racine Unified School District

For Parents
All Students will be prepared academically, for personal success in life, for their chosen careers, and for being positive, contributing members of the global community.

Global Citizenship
All students will understand political, cultural, social, and economic environments and student roles, responsibilities and their place in a global society.

As to the Obama Book for liturature -- if I was a parent I'd contact the teacher, principle, and school board if necessary and politely say; NO %^$*ing WAY.

My kid will read Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. THAT is literature. And there is a Study Guide for that book. So deal with it or pound sand.

AFAIK, they are not doing this at my son’s school.

But they do serve up a thoroughly sanitized history of Islam, including the five pillars and quotes from the Koran.

If there were bible excerpts, I’m sure the outcry would be deafening.

I think that’s a little harsh. I graduated from high school in 2001 and came away unscathed for the most part. While I support the right to homeschool and fear Obama will make that illegal, it’s important to realize that not all public schools are bad. My parents were both public school teachers and are conservative and took their jobs very seriously. This textbook, on the other hand, is an abomination
