~snip~

The 5-foot-7, 267-pound Cooey had tried to avoid execution by arguing that his obesity would prevent humane lethal injection because viable veins in his arms are hard to find.

~snip~

Cooey dined Monday evening on the special meal he ordered, including T-bone steak with A-1 sauce, onion rings, french fries, four eggs over easy, toast with butter, hash browns, a pint of rocky road ice cream, a Mountain Dew soft drink and bear claw pastries.

He wasn't fat, he was big-boned.

He was starring on “The Biggest Murderer” show on NBC. Olbermann had tears, like Medellin in Texas.

10 to 12 years should be plenty to get guilt straightened out.

This wouldn't have even been an issue if Ohio used the chair instead of lethal injection.

I mean, it's impossible to be "too fat to fry," right?

Maybe Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn can make a sensitive movie about his ordeal on death row :)

There was some doubt about whether the execution would go smoothly. Let’s hear it for the experimental method!

I prefer the noose. It has a certain earthiness and authenticness about it that modern methods lack. And it’s proven effective by centuries of successful application.

I know, it can behead the occassional lard ass and an improperly constructed gallows can collapse, but I can live with that if the courts will let them die by it.

It’s always Mountain Dew.

You're right. Why is that?

Is there a budget limitation for a last meal?

I would think that at least a few death row inmates would request extremely expensive meals - like a rare grand cru Burgundy and a true Kobe filet sauteed in Piedmontese white truffle oil or something.
