Even New Jerseyans can't stand living in New Jersey, according to a new poll that said nearly half of adults residing in the Garden State want to pull up stakes.
The Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey Poll, released Wednesday, found 49 percent of those polled would rather live somewhere else.

Poll participants cited high property taxes (28 percent), the cost of living (19 percent), state taxes (5 percent) and housing costs (6 percent) as the main reasons they want out. The poll also found that 51 percent of those who expressed a desire to leave planned to do so, with adults under the age of 50 making between $50,000 and $100,000 the most likely to flee.
"If you have the ability to leave and you don't see any possibility for change with the way the state is run — and that's the No. 1 issue here — you have to vote with your feet," said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute.

"It's no wonder that New Jersey is a national joke," he said. "We've done it to ourselves with these just positively irresponsible policies."

That migration depleted the state's tax coffers of an estimated $10 billion in personal income and $680 million in sales tax, according to the Rutgers report.
"This really illustrates among a lot of other things that the public has thrown up their hands," Murray said. "They don't feel that there's anything they can do that would change the situation."

"One can only hope that the pendulum will stop swinging this way and start moving back the other way 'cause if it doesn't, you're going to see 9 million people suffer," he said.
"Or you're going to see the last person over the Delaware turn out the lights."

Ditto that. I'm 5 years from retirement. I'm selling (or I am going to try to sell) my home in case the chosen one gets in. No way I'm paying capital gains tax on my home. Bad enough NJ state will take a chunk of it.
Years ago, a friend’s brother headed South out of New Jersey to find work and came back with a shirt that read, “Do you know what scares me? A person traveling South from New Jersey with a U-Haul.” That’s exactly what he did.
Lots of blue staters are moving to NH, not just the Massholes.

I’m from NY. Used to live in Manhattan, now Queens. Many in my family are hard core Republicans. Every moonbat I meet in NY is from out of state. I wish they didn’t come to New York. The southern and western liberals have ruined my lovely city.

NJ actually ranks low in terms of violent crime and high in terms of education and health. The problem is that folks are getting raped via high property taxes and the most bloated (and corrupt) state and local governments in the United States.
Sadly it seems most want to move to North Carolina. I’d happily give 90% of them back.

The way the Corzine-bought study described the out-bound I figured they left with belongings in the back of their beat up old cars after they took them down off the cinder blocks and drained enough gas out of the lawnmowers to get them moving".
By the way popular in-bound destinations included Washington, D.C., Kentucky, Vermont, Nevada, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Oh it’s horrible here.......guns everywhere. Drive 80 miles for dinner. Skeeters big enough to stand flat footed and have sex with a turkey. You can see the curvature of the earth. Tornados, Hail as big as cantalope. Rabbits as big as Antelope. Flash Floods. Wind so bad ya have to tie down chain. Hotter’n a snakes ass in a wagon rut in summer and colder than a well diggers butt in winter (according to Eaker who checks suchs things) and only place in the US ya can stand on a 5 gallon bucket with a pair of binoculars and see the back of yer own head !

The New Jersey refugees can move to California, and the California refugees can move to New Jersey. Don’t even think about moving to Texas, we have enough Mexican refugees already.
What we need to do is make the residency period before voting in the new state at least five years. Ten would be better.
Incidentally, your becoming king is very doubtful (my magic 8-ball said so) because I expect to become queen by acclamation any day now.
Not to put a damper on this, but the Red States, per capita, receive more from the Federal government in tax dollars then they send to the treasury. States like New York, California and New Jersey are paying for Mississippi, Georgia and Virginia.
So, maybe people in New Jersey are moving elsewhere because they are sick of seeing their Federal tax dollars being siphoned to other States.
If a southerner sees an ugly baby he would say “that’s a beautiful baby yall have”. Someone from the Midwest in the same situation would smile and change the subject “it sure looks like rain. We need it.” A person from Boston would say “damn that kids ugly” and a person from Jersey would shout “Your kid’s ugly and I can understand since your wife is so homely....hey, watzamatter ...did I say something wrong? what?”
